Some weeks ago the annoying person downstairs, who seems to be doing renovations to his flat, used a drill on something - while I switched on metal as loud as possible, thank you very much - and soon afterwards this thing began, as if someone's hammering... three times each, and lasts about half an hour throughout the day. Sometimes the gaps in between the three don't take as much time as others, so they're not always *exactly* alike, but they're always three in counting (1, 2, 3, silence for about three seconds, repeat).

TBH rhythm is better than random noises, but it's driving me insane in that it lasts so long every time and it's not at predictable times (as I thought before). Earlier it started when I was watching a movie, for f**k's sake... obviously had to pause it until it ended.

The sound of a screw followed by a pop is a drywall screwdriver.

I had upstairs neighbors who sounded like they were bowling every evening. :? If so, they were terrible. I never heard the pins fall, just the ball rolling.

Could they be playing darts? You throw three at a time, pluck them out of the board, then throw again. I have an electronic dart board, so it came to mind. :)

You could go offer to help so that he gets finished faster. Either that or go to the library while he's working.

this actually sounds quite likely... it also fits with the initial drilling, since a dartboard has to be put on the wall first.

i dont have experience with a dartboard being on a connected wall, but i suppose they could sound like hammering if the sound conducts.
