Is it true that most aspies don't let different foods touch?

I hadn't heard that one before.

I'm not aspie in that regard unless we are talking about extremely different types of foods such as spaghetti and ice cream.

I used to do this, even though I'm NT (I guess). My sons seem to have no problem with foods touching.

I was over at a friend's house the other day, and she was talking about her husband (who I think has Asperger's, but is undiagnosed) has to have foods arranged just so on his plate -- the protein in one section, the starch in another and the veggies in another -- or he gets angry with her. Sounds fairly aspie to me.

I haven't voted as it's not b/w to me. Food cannot touch as I put i on the plate, but I can mix it when I actually eat it.

OK growing up at home I always insisted the food never touches on my plate. Now my father who I feel is more aspie then I ever could be tells me that it does not matter since the food mixes in the stomach anyways???! !!

To this day I still arrange my food so it does not touch.

I don't let sauces touch one another, nor do I let sauces/liquids intermix with my food; I bring my food to the sauce, not the sauce to the food; I don't like salad and meat touching (I'll keep them separated). I'm ok otherwise.

I have more problems with eating certain things; I don't like anything that's mushy, I won't eat it.

It is a trait, but it is a spectrum afterall, and there are many different experiences of AS.

It isn't just an AS thing either,am don't like food touching and always have it arranged in the same way.
Anything that is left,is arranged back into line as well.
Two other auties am used to live with were like this also.
Am wonder whether this is one of those OCD crossover traits,or whether it truly is specific to ASD.

It'd probably only be OCD if one thought something bad would happen if it wasn't arranged correctly; it's just "yuck" to me when certain foods touch.

It is nothing that I am very picky about now.
I think I might have been more picky about it as a kid.

The only foods I tend to mix are mashed potatoes and peas/corn (just because it makes it easier for me to eat). I like most of my food to remain separated and look "neat".

here is how you make a sandwich:

bread, then mustard, then meat, then cheese, then veggies, then bread.

If the mustard touches the veggies or the cheese, the sandwich is so gross that I can't stand to take a bite.

I feel like a lunatic.

I prefer rice and mashed potatos to have no sauce or other food on them, but it is not a meal ending offense.

Yeah, I let them touch. I even mix some of them together. They're all going to the same place anyway right?

Doesn't matter as much now, although I prefer it if they don't. I suspect my wife would say I'm still pretty strange when it comes to this. If I set out to make a dish then the mixing is fine, like chili, I add all sorts of things. But to put many of the same things on a plate to eat? I would prefer them all separated. I also will usually eat one food at a time until gone, then start on the next. I don't know if it's a trait or not to be honest.

I try to keep food separate, especially if either has a liquid component. Also, I will generally eat all of one item of food before starting on the next (e.g. I eat all my fries, THEN the hamburger. None of this back-and-forth stuff).

I always put my food on the egdes of my plate because I don't want them to touch. It is not so much about the flavour...but the look.
I have done this all of my life...if my food didn't look "neat" [I dislike anything messy] I wouldn't eat it. I am still like that sometimes although not to the extent that I was when I was a young child.

Ya, mushy food is pretty rough, even gag worthy.

I generally don't like for different types of food to touch. I also don't like switching between foods; I eat each type of food one at a time. I usually eat in order from what I like least to what I like most.
