I'm sure it's in here somewhere but I couldn't find it easily. My bf was "diagnosed" as having AS by our psychotherapist using a test she pulled offline. My bf isn't fully convinced with the test and would like a more official diagnosis (as I would in his position).

The problem we're having thus far is we can't seem to find a place/person who can test for it, or at least give us something more concrete.

Where would we go for something like this?

Thanks for any help in advance.

Get online and find an autism specialist in your area. The simple test he took is more of a screening tool and does not rule out the possibility of other Dx's that have similar symptoms, such as ADD/ADHD, dyspraxia, and being an alien.

Getting a general psychologist isn't enough, because they are generally clueless about ASD. A specialist in your area or in a nearby town would be a better choice, because they're more likely to identify the correct traits of Autism.

Thanks you two. I Googled them and we have a lot in the area. Now here's hoping one takes his insurance of Medicaid.

A Psychiatrist and a Neurologist can also diagnose people with Autism.

Best of luck and please do not take any notice of stuff online.

Deal only with real people and real life.

Then you will achieve real results.

No, neither, a clinical psychologist.

Your average psychiatrist couldn't diagnose an orange.

You are completely wrong. Both are qualified to diagnose Autism. There are also sub disciplines of neurology and psychiatry that deal specifically with autism.

Clearly you have some bone against psychiatry.
