So my counselor, who is knowledgeable about Asperger's, told me that one of the common traits of it is that people my age--I'm 28--sometimes demonstrate traits more common with older people. I definitely find this accurate. My interests in the past have usually corresponded with the interests of those who are older, at least one generation older. And I do feel a lot older than I am, sometimes. Like I'm already old. I'm reserved for someone in my generation, and I don't like loud bars, or concerts, or something like that. I'd prefer casual conversation with a small group of people in a pub or coffee shop.

Does anyone else find themselves relating to this? Do they feel the same way?

I've always been told that I'm too mature for my age and many times I feel like I have 100 years old. When I was little, I used to like to talk with old people and they were stunned of my wisdom. Sometimes they asked me to give them advices (i know it sounds ridiculous) and we often talked about phylosophical matters about which most people found no interest in them. Anyway now I have no pleasure in talking with anybody because most of them doesn't seem very deep and don't understand my thinking... and I hate giving advices (also receiving them).

I sure as hell do, but at the same time, I don't really FEEL old. I actually FEEL a lot younger than I am, but I've been called an old soul a few times before.

I'm 15 now and have been told that I act like an old man in the same way as you. I don't like loud or overstimulating places like most kids my age; I'd rather enjoy something more quiet and subtle.

Some of the young people I work with call me "Granddad"
I've always been really mature. In some ways at home with my partner I do act like a child, but I've always been very sensible. I think it's down to my logical thinking and fear of taking risks. I also always over prepare for everything which isn't very young-person-like.

My sister once called me an "old soul"...and yet I sometimes act more like a little kid than somebody in their late 20s. :?

I get called too mature for my age. I don't like many things people my age like. Most of my aquantance- friends (I'm not sure if they're friends or aquantances) are over 30, except for people I know at school. Generally, it doesn't bother me at all.

I agree with the coffee shop/small group thing. I don't want to go to a place that's full of people and blaring loud music -it's just plain uncomfortable!

I've always been told that I've always been old, but I feel like an overgrown 12 year old.

Chris says I have adult wisdom, but sometimes act like a kid. So, adult brain and body, but child spirit.

I've been told by many people that I'm an old soul. I enjoy the things that my parents generation enjoyed between 40 and 50 years ago. I also prefer vintage things over modern things.

The funny thing is that I also feel like I'm 21.

I have always been told I act and think like a 40 year old. I've always gotten along better with older people than younger ones, although I do have some close friends my age.

I can relate to that! I know because I prefer to listen to older music for example. I don't have any friends and I'm too shy to talk to anyone.... but if I HAD to become friends with someone I would probably choose an old person haha. :D

I do feel like I am mature for my age....I was never boy-crazy as a teenager and easily saw the shallowness of following trends in music, clothing, etc. As a college student, I avoid partying, drinking and taking drugs, and take my studies seriously.

I'm 53. I feel like a young mind in an old body.

I hung out with a group of much older men (they were my pals - nothing sexual) in my early teens because they didn't get distracted by my oddness. They accepted and enjoyed my company, plus because they were educators and contained vast amounts of knowledge, they could answer my endless questions and didn't seem to mind. I had lots of age-inappropriate friends - still do. So? I'm well-rounded, eh?

I was also told I was an old soul but I don't think that's correct. I don't think it's wisdom as much as powers of observation. Perhaps you notice things others don't and they are amazed and mystified by your ability. NT's have to attach emotion to everything and make it all warm and fuzzy. Something they can't explain becomes mysterious and special. Don't fall into that trap.

Go to college. Learn as much as you can. Prepare yourself as much as possible. You can make your life better.

I have no idea on what age I am on the inside. Even though I'm physically 28, I've felt like a young kid and an old soul both.
