IS my girlfriend intellectually disabled. so my girlfriend says she is autistic and that she couldnt talk correctly until after age 5 with the help of speech therapy of course. she was in special classes her whole school life. Now we are both in college im 20 and she is 19. she has trouble understanding certain things like when I'm talking to her. Also in public sometimes she will talk about inappropriate things and i will have to redirect her. during a movie at the movie theater she will repeat certain lines from the movie outloud and she will start talking loud too and i have to tell her to shh a few times. also she does certain finger movements and body movements. she is a slow learner and has a speech impairment but she can draw really well. she says that her iq is 87. so is she bordeline? she is in college but has accomdations from disability services so she gets a lot of help.

The things that you're describing seem mostly to be common signs of ASD.

That's not to say she couldn't have some kind of intellectual issue as well, but from my lay perspective, nothing you've said points to it.

People with autism have IQs that vary by subject area. But, some people are slow learners in that they can do just as well as normal people if given more time or if they practice more. But, there are other things that maybe they just can't learn to do. An example is recognizing faces.
