It is exceedingly common to wrap things around my head etc covering my mouth + nose. not cutting off air usually, in some cases i do and breathe through my tracheostomy.

Does anyone else here like to do it and for what reason?

for me the extra warmth, darkness, feel of different materials on my cheeks and lips feels sooo calming.

i often cover my eyes or wear a mask, i have always been sensitive to lights when trying to sleep and it seems to help

some of the places where i have lived it havent been that great of an issue since its possible to turn off all the light and there havent been streetlamps or other lights outside, if there were i could at least draw the blinds.
in my current flat i have too many plants in my windows for it to be feasible to install blinds, (on a side note i finally got th fertilization process for african horned melon down, seems like i will have melons in a month)

outside there is a burn tower for the local refinery, sometimes it can light up the room enough for reading at night.

I used cover my head except for a little breathing gap for my nose.

I do this. I started because I was afraid of spiders (saw one in my room). Now I just can't sleep without something covering my head, even in the middle of the summer I'll just have to cover over my head because it's more secure. I need that a little humming, I can't sleep if it's too quiet.

I cover everything but my mouth, nose, and eyes when I sleep. I usually do it with a pillow over my head, and blanket wrapped around the pillow.

I don't wear anything over my face because the oxygen runs out some time and I end up suffocating.

i thought i was the only one who did this. i've slept with the covers over my head since i was 6 or something. i leave a breathing hole around my mouth and nose but my eyes have to be covered and i hold the covers in place with my head. it started because i was afraid of the ghosts i was sure lived in my house but now i do it because im really sensitive to light in the morning. it hurts. covering my eyes isnt really enough and neither is shutting the curtains but there isnt anything else i can do. i am lucky that the new place i have moved into doesnt recieve much light. or at least my room doesnt and it is rather dim(by other peoples standards not mine) till midday.

When I lived in the campus dorms and one specific apartment, I would wear a stocking cap pulled over my eyes due to the intense light given off by the "security lights." The second apartment I lived in was facing the street and thus, did not have lights beaming through the windows (street lamps were turned off to save the city money, but the security lights illuminated the street just fine).

I used to make a "head sandwich", of sorts. I would put my head between two pillows and clamp them with my arms in order to sleep. Now, I just put an arm on top of my head and one below the pillows as I no longer find the old configuration comfortable.

I sometimes put my comforter over my head and leave a small space for my nose/mouth. Not all the time, though. I enjoy the extra weight all over my body.

I don't do this, but I should start. :P I often fall asleep with one arm resting over my eyes. It feels good, and it blocks out any light.
