Stuttering when 'the floor is yours'
When I have the opportunity to speak openly about whatever's on my mind and I have 3-5 minutes to do so, I can get through 2 sentences fine and then I freeze up and jump around from thought to thought and fragments only partially related to what I was trying to convey come out. I see the pattern of having a few key points that I wanted to present, and wanting to acknowledge comments that others in the group have brought forth, alongside another thing or 2 from my week that I wanted to contribute. The problem is how to rein it all in while saying my piece and filling the time allotment effectively. That's where I really notice it but I find it happens at the therapist and doctor visits. I've learned about 'feedback loops' when people have told me in the past that statements I made in honesty were inappropriate. I know I can't be alone with this, but I'm wondering if my 'feedback loop' theory is valid?
