An intersting new study just came out today from the University of Michigan:

As time passes in a social situation, and as no new stimuli appear in that situation, the amygdala of a neurotypical slows down (the neurotypical relaxes a bit). For a person with an ASD, however, it's a different story. Follow this link to find out more:

U of Michigan on ASD's: Brain doesn't slow down as social situation continues

It should be very valuable as a way of explaining to others why we find social situations so hard--provided that other scientists can replicate their findings.

So, bottom line - too much is always too much. But NT's filter it out, like clothing - they don't feel their clothes and shoes all day long like we do.

Bit off topic but did you notice there were hardly any minorities in the ASD group?
