How many aspies dislike the gender binary?

I know I do. I have studied gender psychology, LGBTQ studies, paraphilias - and many other things that relate to sexuality and family issues as well as other cultures.

What I want to know is do you sometimes exibit qualities and traits associated with the opposite sex?

I hate the gender binary with a passion. I don't even wish to post my biological gender in this post. I feel Male, therefore I identify as Male. I even feel the phantom penis at times.

I am male and masculine.

(There should be a distinct category for this too!)

I'm actually intersex but my parents forced me to undergo surgery as an infant so they could slap an "M" on my birth certificate.

I don't identify as either, but I dabble in genderplay in both directions.

I'm a heterosexual male, and I'd say that I'm passively masculine, but actively neither. I don't have a strong sense of gender identity, but I conform to, and identify myself with masculine traits. I'm more void of identity than most people from lack of socialization, so I can't strongly identify myself with them. A lot of my hobbies and interests could be considered to be asexual.

Count me in for disliking the gender binary. One suggestion, if I may - this poll needs an "other" category biological sex and gender doesn't always neatly fit into male or female.

I have personality traits of both genders, but I don't strongly identify as either. I identify as androgynous or 3rd gender.

I'm more of a Tomboy than a woman that wheres makeup and wheres dresses loves girlie movies and talks about other people and what they wear and gossip about other people whats with the gossiping thing? I'm into cars V8s, ships, airplanes, football, bbqs with the boys, comics, playing action games such as Resident Evil, Assassins Creed, Call of Duty, Battlefield 3, Witcher 2 the fights the blood, watching horror movies and action movies, 4x4 wheel driving, I don't mind going mountain biking in the forest and getting dirty, I even had a job for many years that only men would do and that is loading and unloading trucks for bands I loved it, I miss it, picking up speakers, lazer boxes, mixers, lights and coming home dirty. I wear mens shirts and shorts they are more comfortable, I can kick a football and soccer ball and play footy with the boys, I can't stand barbie dolls and when I got one for Christmas my sister who is also a Tomboy and I took off Barbies head and used her head as a tennis ball and threw Barbies body over the fence and gave it to my back door neighbours dog. I rather get a remote control car, racing car set or a mecano or legos or model cars or a Predator, Alien figurine.

I'm a girl, but my parents, my relatives and most of the persons that know me say that I act a lot more like a male. But it may be just because I don't use make up, I don't wear tight dresses and I'm not in love with a famous actor.

I've always felt like a man trapped in a womans body. I've done work that a man normally does in the workplace. I have my model backhoe loaders out under display cases. In fact I have a real backhoe loader and have done some maintenance on it like greasing all of the moving parts and putting in a new battery. I have worked on cars before all of the computerized stuff and other mechanical things. I don't have anything frilly around the house and I hate to see photographs of loved ones sitting around. In fact my house has a very masculine look to it. Though my hair is quite long now, I don't wear dresses anymore and I haven't carried a purse problably for 35 years at least. I don't even wear makeup.

But, I have accepted the fact that I feel like a man trapped in a womans body, because I'm not limited on my sexuality when it comes to my object fixations.

I would be this, if it were available. And yes, I strongly dislike the gender binary, but nobody ever seems to understand (or even recognise) that I have such a problem with it.

Could the poll options be changed? I think the OP meant to give six choices, but somehow the first (masculine male) and the last (mas/fem female) choices didn't become choices, leaving only four choices.

I hate gender binarism, too. I am a male and I'm happily so physically. What I don't like is being expected/forced to play the gender role such as chivalry etc. Nowadays people are so strict about "equality", but when it comes to equality for males, people seem to forget about it. It's so uncomfortable for me to speak up about it, because I could get regarded as selfish or worse "sexist" for some reason. I consider myself as neither, though I'm happy about my biological gender.

Why object to the gender binary but reinforce it by asking people to put themselves into male or female boxes anyway? Why not simply ask whether people are masculine, feminine, both, neither, and other?

I'm female and I am not 100 female in my mind, but I am not masculine either. I think I just struggle with conformity to gender role, so it appears that I am masculine, but if I were to spend a day with all males, I'll probably feel completely feminine.
