1. I am taking a degree that takes 3 years to complete
2. I have just been advised that it will take two years more to complete
3. i have been at university for 2.5 years

Do the math

I am in serious, serious trouble. I have to figure out how, somehow, to do 2 years worth of work in 1 year.
I dont know how that is even possible, given that I have not managed to complete most of my courses.
All this is due to 1. IBS and 2. poor time management. One would be manageable without the other..
I dont know what to do now! I am an overseas student so I have to graduate by the end of next year!
The disability support doesn't do much for me... all they can do is inform my lecturers about my stomach problem and maybe they can overlook some of the absences... thats it.
I am so sick of this stupid pattern I keep falling into.... I really don't know what to do now... all I know is what I need to do, but don't know how to get there.

Is it possible to work during the summer? Or take double courses?

Relax, I'm sure you'll be okay...perhaps you could arrange an independant study of some sort with your teachers. Talk to them. They'll understand. Just be sure to keep a level head and be open to the possibilities they'll give you.

Don't hesitate to talk if you need to vent!

yes indeed. summer programs are a wonderul possiblilty.

I plan on doing one, just so I can look good at being a wedding photographer, and hopefully help enhance my business.

the one thing of advice I can offer is that you do your best.

Summer programmes only allow you to take a limited number of subjects

There is no "cure" for IBS and different medications work differently on different people. for the few treatments that seem to have effect, the effects vary from day to day and they dont always work.

Why can't you get your visa extended? If your degree will take longer, isn't that a reasonable thing for them to do? It'll do no harm to find out about whether you can do this; and anyway, if it can be done it will probably need to be done soon, because bureaucracies take a long time to do things.

Thanks ... I never actually thought of asking if they could arrange for a bit more of an independent study thing for me before.. that might be a good start..... usually I tell them (well not all cos some dont seem all that receptive) about my medical condition and how its been afffecting my study but they kind of go "..oh." and thats it. Yeah, I'll definitely be venting about tis for a while!

I am going to definitely do as many holiday courses as I can. The trouble is the university has a cap on how much you can "overload". I don't know if/dont think they would ever make an exception for me.

Well I guess they could extend their visa but it's happened before that students dont get their extension granted, which is very worrying. Also what's a lot more worrying is that I am being parent funded (in our culture that's the norm), as it is I am having difficulty juggling my work, and can't find a part time job while at uni-- no one seems to want me-- and even if i did have a part time job the fees for international students are so high I would never be able to fund my education. My parents already know I am a semester behind but they don't know how bad the situation is right now. I really can't tell them, i'ts not fair to them. I need to get this fixed.
