Well, I am an Aspie, I said that when I joined....

My four year old brother was just diagnosed with Autism..

I heard that its common to have multiple Auties in a family, but the catch in my situation is that my brother and I are from different fathers, and my mother doesn't seem like she's autistic.

My doctor says that is strange, since it doesn't usually happen with half-siblings.

I'm not sure if this goes here, but I wanted to share it...

Your grandpa could have it. Your mom could just be a carrier without effects on her own.

Autism does manifest a bit differently in girls than in boys, and, on average, we sometimes can cover it up better. Also, keep in mind that as we get older, we learn more about how to navigate the NT world. She could seem NT to you, but still be on the spectrum herself.

Ok that would be weird for him to say.

1st off we attract one another, you will feel the best when with a person of your same mind set.

MY FATHERS SIDE--------------------------------------------------MY HALF SIBLINGS BY MY FATHER
Asperger; Superior PIQ average VIQ-----------------------------Asperger; Superior PIQ High VIQ

-----------------------------------------ME AND MY SIBLINGS
----------------------------------------GENIUS PIQ Superior VIQ

MY MOTHERS SIDE-----------------------------------------------MY HALF SIBLINGS BY MY MOTHER
Asperger; High PIQ Superior VIQ-------------------------------Asperger; Above Average PIQ Superior VIQ

My Mother has acute schizophrenia, Her father had Aspergers, She will never talk about it and was tricked into diagnosis in 1984
She was ordered into diagnosis and treatment by judgement in 1986 and still won't admit it with a purse full of pills an 2 neurologists

My Father Has Aspergers as does his 4 brothers, some understand some don't want to hear it.

Neither of my parents have any concern or empathy for our lives. They are incapable of it.
Both have divorced twice, and abandoned and neglected all of their children. (We are all adults now)
My brother, sister and I have some sort of thing called need to be accepted "the new empathy"

ASPERGER's from my genealogical tree Asperger's seems to pass on to the next branch easily.

My entire family line was recorded and traced in 1984. They were all paid to assist with diagnosis and evaluations.
I don't think they realized it was for Aspergers :) LOL

Schizophrenia is linked to Asperger's, could be a mutation caused by trauma, stress or opportunistic virus.

Asperger's is different from Autism, possibly distant relative but different. possibly a combination of Autism and Schizophrenia, when the two are combined it is possible that they level each other out and give rise to genius's. I say that lightly I hate the genius end.

If you wanted to prove these statements made by my Genius neuro-scientist's and their staff of 14, you only need a few hundred more families like mine. That is what they were told, Good Luck with that! Our system is a broken.

Knowledge is written in books to be passed on, Knowledge comes from research, Research is expensive.

Is that right? Do you have links to any specific studies, or quotes from experts etc? I don't mean to call you out, it's just that I've always heard the opposite: that there is no link.

I am a mom who has 2 autistic sons with different fathers. I was never diagnosed but the more I learned about it, the more sure I am that I am not "NT".

Possible, but what is even more likely is that the OP's mother could have it, and it just seems normal to the OP.

It's not uncommon for auties to miss autism in their own families because it seems so normal.

You shouldn't really make assumptions about people you don't know. I think TheWebbz knows her own mum a little more than you do, I'm sure she would pick up on her own mum being Aspie even if she could hide it.

And with the situation, it might be coincidence. I come from a large family with lots of cousins, and none of them are even close to Aspie, and so I've always wondered how I got AS. With me it was probably an unlucky coincidence.
