I struggle with several symptoms. The two worst are anxiety and a distinct lack of energy (anergy). These two things cause me the greatest trouble.

I'm presently taking 20 mg of Fluoxitine and 1 mg or Risperidone daily. I also take 50 mg of Modafinil no more than four days each week.

I'm curious what medications others have found to successfully treat or manage these symptoms.

for anxiety and the depresion that often goes with it: Valarian root mostly at bedtime. St johns and 5htp

for lack of energy: mostly stimulants -- Caffeine and similar. Also make certain my body has the basic fuel needed for energy such as complex carbs, B vitamins, Ribose. Good sound sleep is also key. I've found a small but heavy weighted blanket works wonders for me

I take fluoxetine for depression and by proxy it seems to help a little with anxiety although I don't believe that's what it's supposed to technically be for (anxiety). I just added a teeny bit of Abilify and I do have more energy. I was almost flat-out for a while there.

I take 60mg fluoxetine and 2mg Abilify.

I take Zoloft for anxiety and rely on caffeine and sugar to keep my energy levels up, although I should probably switch to a healthier diet, exercise and sleep on a better schedule, etc., etc....

I've tried all of those. They don't work for me, unfortunate as they're a lot easier to come by than drugs, no doctors involved, etc. The only natural herbals I've found so far that affect me are Scullcap, which I find mildly beneficial, and Coptis which I use 'to remove stagnation' in a Traditional Chinese Medicine sense.

I hadn't come across Abilify before. Thanks for posting your experience with it. It looks interesting as its mechanism of action is different than other atypical antipsychotics.

Wellbutrin XL treats both for me pretty well. But, it really helps if I do it with a lot of cardio exercise with it.

I believe I'm the only person here who is on it, or who has even tried it, so who knows how it'll work for anyone else here. I just know it works for me.

i cannot take any stimulant anymore...used to take them..but now throws my anxiety through the roof.

i take clonazepam 1-3mg and prozac 20mg

Trying to get off the clonazepam so thinking of going to 40mg prozac.

clonazepam is pretty good i think for meltdowns...but habit forming and can make it hard to think.

Ok are those who are taking the meds and stimulants following the rules on diet about no gluten/sugar/dairy etc? Thanks.

Most of these don't have many restrictions. I am not supposed to drink on it. I violate that rule on rare occasion. I'm not a big drinker, anyway.

Would certainly like to see folks attempting the dietary constraints before resorting to drugs.

I found I needed far more than the label recommends. I start with a low dose and slowly inch it up, while on guard for side-effects, until I achieve the desired effect.

In my case, I avoid sugar and use xylitol instead. My dairy intake consists of a splash of milk in my tea, occasional (not daily) use of butter, and even more occasional use of goat and buffalo cheese. I'm cutting out the cheese starting today because my wife thinks that it contributes to my emotional/mental instability. I don't avoid gluten.

While my diet has been dodgy in the past, I think it's pretty clean now: no animal flesh except fish, vegetables, some fruit, light on greasy foods, light on dairy, plenty of rice and oatmeal rather than just wheat.

Sounds like your doing great. Would get away from the Xylitol. Very nasty stuff causes brain cancer..blindness etc. Try all veggie food grade glycerine..NOW Brand seems to be the best. Available online or most good health food stores. Bunch of links to it on Google..here's one. Do not buy the crappy stuff Wally World sells.

Hmmm.... you could ask your doctor about perhaps changing your anti-depressant to something that hits a different neurotransmitter. I don't want to list out specific meds here but there are a variety of classes for anti-depressants, and some are known more for slight energy boost while others have more of a neutral or sedating effect. Ask your doctor. It may be necessary to switch up your med combination a bit.
