I went climbing on an indoor wall for the first time this past weekend with an NT friend. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and I remembered that as a kid, I used to climb over stuff all the time. I used to have strangely excellent balance, which was really odd, because I'm extremely clumsy and generally uncoordinated in all other aspects. I have heard of others on the spectrum (both children and adults) who like to climb on things. Is that related to the same impulse that causes some autistic people to enjoy swinging (which I also loved as a kid) or trampolines (which I never got to try, but probably also would have enjoyed)? Any other climbers out there? I dislike most physical activities, but I'm thinking of getting into rock climbing seriously.

I don't like climbing, but I have mild ataxic CP, and I'm also somewhat afraid of heights and falling over.
