A self-explanatory Q, and yes, some people do, and that has led to the end of friendships in some situations.

That has led me to say "I am so stupid!" It makes me so sad.

If they're not terminally butthurt then it's someone assuming I was born yesterday. It goes beyond the scope of just a few situations, the only thing I seem to get right is ordering food or requesting behind-the-counter items, and even those can be a tossup.

Some days I question whether I'm better off selective muting

All the time. I'm used to it.

Yes. I'll say something and they'll hear something else. I just don't get it.

Sure. Lot of times I think it's no big deal.

I think it's more of a problem with me being unable to translate my thoughts externally. I get confused when I'm talking to people, then they get confused and don't understand what I mean.

In my head, everything makes perfect sense. I could be walking down the street and have a brilliant conversation with myself, but the moment I attempt to express it verbally everything is all mixed up and I feel extremely thick.

Way too often. It makes me wonder, do they understand English? Are they basing their assumption on only what they know, everything that is common to them, rather than thinking outside of the box they live in?

The reason they do it could also be because they have never met someone like me before.

Chances are it is a mixture of all of the above.

Yes, it's quite common.

If people misunderstand, and they're emotionally offended, no clarification in the world will change their minds.

I've had this experience with certain individuals on this site, which makes me question the sincerity of their Aspergic minds.

It bugs me whenever someone misinterprets what I say. It bugs me just as much when they misinterpret my actions or inactions.

The bad thing is that if they get something in their mind about you that is wrong, in many cases it doesn't matter what you say or do, they aren't going to change their minds. Trying to make explanations usually seems to be an exercise in futility.

I reached the point a long time ago that I don't even bother to try to explain. I just let them go on thinking whatever it is their thinking and I just don't care.

Yes. They do it sometimes. For example, once I was with one of my classmates, we were at the end of a school trip at the museum, that I enjoyed much, and she said to me:<<Wow, it has alredy ended>>, and I said:<<Yes, times seems to pass faster when you're having fun>>. Well, she said:<<That sounded sarcastic>>. Actually, I wasn't being sarcastic, and when I said this to her, she said that my monotonous voice tone made her think so.

To Kairi96: Yes, sad but true, NTs often regard monotonous tone as sarcastic tone.

Either the words that are coming out of my mouth arent what i think they are, or they are translating them in a different way than im saying.
It doesnt help either when you ask someone if what you said was offensive, and they tell you "well i dont think so, but i live with you so im used to you talking like that" Oh FFS.
