Just interested because I have a sister with schizophrenia and I have seen research which states that if you do, you are 300% more likely to have an ASD.

My mom's sister has it. I haven't seen her since I was eight. Her illness was obvious when you talk to her but I was too speech delayed to notice the difference when ever she talked to me.

Yes, my mom's brother (my uncle) has very low-functioning schizophrenia. He can't talk to anyone and he's afraid to leave the house. I noticed there's a bit of a overlap in schizophrenia/ASD characteristics. Since the onset for schizophrenia is late 20's for females, I'm scared that my time could be coming. There's also a probable genetic factor, which makes me even more paranoid. I don't want to end up like my uncle :/

Could you link me to the research? I'm curious about this.

Diagnosed with Schizophrenia here (in addition to a couple of ASD diagnoses plus OCD).

A few blood relatives have or had Schizophrenia or some other psychotic disorder; a couple of blood relatives have AS.

My mom has Bi-Polar, but she was adopted, so I could have a relative with Scitz. I have a baby brother with T21 Downs Syndrome, and my dad says he thinks I have Scitz, but ive never recieved a Dx for it. Only Aspergers and OCD. :o

My grandmother has schizophrenia and when I was living out there found out she was also bipolar. My father has some brain damage caused by drugs wich looks similar to some kind of psycotic disorder but I'm shure its just brain damage. Also one of my sisters is defintly Unipolar Or Manic all the damn time. I dont know what her problem is but shes wack, I think once she met her real dad when I was out there it fliped her lid and now from what her husband tells me she's gone completely insane

My mom was diagnosed with schizophrenia when I was 7yrs old (I still remember the morning she went into the hospital). She was in the hospital for 2 months before they tried meds. Within hours she was able to go home and stayed on meds until a week before she died. Growing up, Dad repeatedly instructed us that mom's illness was genetic. If we ever started hearing voices, we needed to go on medication too.

I believe my Mom is Schizophrenic, as does my family. I have Aspergers, so I guess the genes came from her?...uncertain...
