Yes. It happens to most of us. Our interests get agglomerated with each other, that they get combined. Tell us about it here.

It happens to me; for example, it's not common for me to imagine anime characters as sports fans/athletes. To name a few. Or imagining Applejack as the host of The Price is Right.

My special interests don't run together. I just don't have the time. I'm in my writing phase now. If I was to get back into my photography or music phase it would completely disrupt my writing phase.

Do you mean like when I was in 7th grade, I got fascinated with the RMS Titanic and I decided to run them together with 101 Dalmatians and the James Cameron movie and then I decided to write my own Titanic story using the characters and putting my family and I in it but then I discontinued it because I couldn't bare to kill off their dogs and Roger and my dad.

I have had it happen with others too. It's like a crossover.

Kinda like that, yeah.

Yeah, it's fun to combine to many of my interests; the results can be quite interesting, I think.

yeah I've combined characters and worlds from the different novels series I read to create new characters and worlds in my imagination. For example I combined the worlds of The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel and Harry Potter and the worlds of The Legend of Drizzt (The Forgotten Realms ) with the character captain Nemo in 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (if anyone wants to know how I combined these very different characters and worlds then PM me-I can't explain things concisely and I don't want my post here to be too long).

I remember when I was in middle school, I made a Zelda and Pokémon crossover story. It was a pretty weird story.

Combining interests is something I have always done. It could almost be considered a special interest in and of itself. There have been two really prominent ones in recent years:

One was Hellsing and Trinity Blood. My obsession with this crossover was so intense that it got to the point where my family actually thought that they were the same series and all the pairings/shippings I came up with were actually canon.

The other was My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and various Johnny Depp characters. There were two scenarios I came up with regarding my MLP and Johnny Depp crossovers: one was that the Main 6 were all in human form and paired off with the Johnny Depp characters, and the other was that all of the Johnny Depp characters were in pony form, effectively making a new Main 6. The Johnny Depp characters I used for these scenarios were the Mad Hatter, Willy Wonka, Edward Scissorhands, Sweeney Todd (and no - he didn't go around killing/eating ponies), Ichabod Crane and Barnabas Collins.

My biggest problem right now is that I don't know what series to combine anymore. I believe that if I can find two series to combine, I will have a new special interest. Unless my passion for my MLP/Johnny Depp crossovers came back, which would be ideal...

There was a time when I had two interests that ran together. It was the early 2000s and my special interests were Austin Powers and video games. I spent a lot of time imagining that there was such a thing as an Austin Powers video game. I've found three Austin Powers video games in 2002 and I bought them all. One of them was Austin Powers Pinball for the Playstation One. The other two were Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery, and Dr Evil: Welcome To My Underground Lair for my Game Boy SP. I played with those games for hours.

The Kinks and the Internet fit together for me quite nicely these days. I'm sure that everybody on WP knows that. Otherwise, they wouldn't be in my avatars. :)

To a small extent, some of my interests may be considered as being connected. I have an interest in military history (and history in general), which sometimes overlaps with my interest involving weapons systems/heavy weapons, which in turn sometimes overlaps in my d20 system-based role playing games interest (use of various weapons in campaign settings including using a 40mm Bofors cannon to slay various monsters). Other interests have no commonality with each other whatsoever.

Unfortunately, my current 2 special interests conflict with each other. One is staying home with my cats and the strays, the other is traveling. I've reduced my traveling to almost nothing, but I still take a half day every couple months to travel and take photos.

In a sense, everything I've ever learned or experienced and processed or not is expressed to some degree in my original music (and even when I play cover tunes of songs I didn't write). This is especially true for those songs of mine that have words. I have written songs about many of my special interests such as Evolution or The Red Baron.

The lyrics to the following song are historically accurate by the way.

It is common when combining what I like into a story, they mostly involve game shows, however.

Sometimes they do. most of my interests are mechanical and technical in nature, so it is only natural that there is some overlap. As a child, I was fairly narrow focused on Chevy musclecars of the 1960's and 70's. However, as an adult I have expanded my horizons a bit. I also love history, but that started from an interest in the machinery of WWII. It has since expanded to include learning about the people involved and their personalities. Coming out of this interest in WWII is also my interest in the early days of nuclear weapons development as well as the culture of nuclear paranoia during the Cold War. From this, I collect things like geiger counters and other radiological instruments that were originally deployed in US fallout shelters during the 1960's. When I collect things, I try to find things that are also functional. So, I now have the ability to measure radiation in the unlikely event that I will ever have to do so.

I can trace most of my special interests back to history and clothes. Especially right now, with the knitting, jewelry, and photography. I knit jewelry out of wire, then take photos of it. :)
