I am curious how good you people consider your vocabulary to be. Do you like words and learning new ones? I do.

I've always tried to embiggen my vocabulary with more cromulent words.

I am probably average. It was below average as a child because of my speech delay so I didn't know lot of words. I like learning new ones.

It was probably higher when I was younger. You might even say it was Stewie Griffin level high. Of course, with the passage of time, and with my attempts to fit in with the norm, I've long forgotten all those words.

"cromulent"?

I think you mean "corpulent" (fat).

I don't know what average is, this is difficult to answer. I don't know how to convey my thoughts to the words I do know so I think most would find it leaves a lot to be desired. It takes so long to think of the correct word to express myself that I'm often completely incomprehensible in person. While writing I think I express myself more clearance, though not that much more clearly.

So in terms of both knowledge of words and ability to apply that knowledge, I'm probably significantly below average. In terms of knowledge of words by itself, I'm probably below average but not so far below average that I'm ashamed to be writing this post.

You are overestimating the ability of the average population. Your writing skills look good to me. I would be surprised if you are below average.

I clicked way above average, because when I took the WAISIII I scored as superior in the verbal (VIQ).

One of my first special interests was dictionaries. I read 3 of 4 dictionaries as a child.

Way above average! Learned to read early and pretty much lost myself in books-- that was my primary escape from a world that didn't get me. Read a ton of nonfiction (especially field guides) and yes, was known to curl up with a dictionary. People often say I talk oddly, that no one "actually uses words/phrases like that!"

Ah well. It proved a useful skill when I started learning foreign languages.

I think my vocabulary tends to be above average yet awkwardly used.

Being fairly pretentious and self important, I try to expand my vocabulary whenever I can even if it means I have to use words I don't understand.
