Self-explanatory Q.
---
Of course I do. I have no earthly reason to explain things, like why I cannot stand my parents, or even why I want to move to LA. It's just that I have trouble explaining these things......... does anybody have this same problem?

Yes, I have trouble explaining certain things. I have a logical mind, but it doesn't work very well for things that involve too many subtle factors, such as emotions, feelings, other people etc.

For example, I live in a foreign country by choice. People have asked me why I decided to live in this country. I always have difficulty answering that question. It was a big decision to make, but I don't seem to be able to explain it to other people.

I have a lot of trouble explaining things that I understand perfectly well.

I have found that I can write things out and then I can repeat what I wrote fairly easily, like working from a script.

Otherwise, it's difficult.

Same here....

I can't quite figure out why, but I think it may be because my thoughts are usually conceptual, abstract, & visual. And taking that into plain dry verbal language is difficult, as soon as I start to speak it all goes to sh*t. I find my self wanting to use analogies to explain what I see in my "minds eye", but then I end up going way off on a tangent and start splitting off from the original topic.

If I take my time and write down or type out my explanation, it usually conveys what I want in an eloquent manner. Sometimes, every so often, If I'm having a good day, my thoughts flow well and I can explain things verbally with ease.

I have trouble explaining to my doctor what's wrong with me. When I sit there, I can't remember symptoms, I can't explain how I feel and how it mess up my life.

I tend to be rather verbose but have been told I can sound dramatic or shakesperian in my speech. I cannot seem to be able to explain concepts or ideas plainly and within contex. Actually I hate answering why for a great deal of things

I do indeed. A recent example was when I was with my uncle and the topic of carers came up. I told him how I had tried it for a day but I didn't like it so I didn't continue. He proceeded to ask me why I didn't like it, but I could not come up with a better answer than, "There are somethings I like and some I don't; that was one I didn't.".

more than having trouble explaining things/misunderstand reason, I don't feel the need to explain "why". I don't see at all the point explaining why I like or don't like something, want or don't want something... so yes I will absolutely have problems explaining those kind of things if I'm in a situation in which I have to answer.

If someone asked me about a subject I was knowledgeable on, or at least knew plenty of random facts about I could talk for ages in great detail about it to explain it. But the level of detail I give seems to bother people. In those cases, it's probably that I am happy to talk about it irrespective of the other person's attitude to it.

If I have to explain what is in my mind in a more general way it's very difficult to match up in words what I have in my head. This is weird because I can do so in writing/text. There is something about having to talk face-to-face with people that is different and more difficult, although it's difficult itself to put into words (or text 8O ) why.

If I have to explain something on the spot, I often screw it up. (Being called on in tutorials at university comes to mind, although this happens in everyday conversation, too.) I'm sure it makes me look like an idiot. On the other hand, I am a fluent communicator in writing. If I could write all my answers to other people, life would be just dandy.

In my case, it's obvious that I'm too damned nervous to speak to other people or in front of other people I don't feel comfortable with.

Hi there,
Sometimes I can usually find it difficult to explain or even answer things too. I always seem to plan out my sentences in my head just right but when it comes to actually saying what's on my mind it suddenly becomes so challenging to actually put things the way I want to. For some reason this seems to be one of my main problems, at the moment it's stuff like this that brings me down the most. You know, sometimes it can get that bad it gets to the point I can hardly speak a word of anything at all! Agh, why does this have to happen?

I say it this way: I know what I mean - but when I try to say what I mean, I can't get my meaning across. I tell people English is my second language - so they ask for my first. I say: English. So, I confuse them further. My psychologist called me on it and really wanted to know my first language - it is my visual-tactile zone - it needs translation to words and back. Words are quite limiting in this regard. I know what I mean ... sigh.
