Seventeen-year-old launches music video to raise awareness
From the NAS uk:
"Seventeen-year-old Ryan Larmour from Lissan near Cookstown has a very different Christmas wish from most other boys his age - he wants to raise awareness about autism.
In order to make more people aware of the condition, Ryan has produced a music video featuring himself singing a rap which he composed about disability. Ryan is selling the DVD of the video to raise funds for the National Autistic Society Northern Ireland, who have supported Ryan through one of their social groups.
Ryan was diagnosed with Asperger syndrome when he was eight years old. He struggled at school and suffered with anxiety which led to him drop out of his first school. Ryan found it hard to make friends and his parents felt he was not reaching his full potential. But eighteen months ago Ryan started to listen to rap music. His parents loved the fact he had started to develop an interest in something that they thought helped Ryan. Ryan's dad, Raymond, said
We are so happy with the impact that getting involved in music has had on Ryan. This seems to be a way in which he can express how he feels and connect with people. He has been helped with his music by a young volunteer called Emma McKeown from Randalstown who he met through the Mid Ulster School of music and this DVD is a result of their work.
Ryan's great wish is that people will go to YouTube to watch his music video, entitled W.A.D - We're All Different, and 'Like' it. He also said that if Professor Green happened to have a look his greatest wish of all would be to meet one of his idols! Watch the video now, share it with your friends online and make Ryan's dream come true."
