I could follow my parents to my sister's this Christmas about four hours away, but I'm not on really good terms with my sister right now.

So, I'm probably looking at a Christmas of getting out early, maybe the Houston Zoo if it's open, maybe two different movies at two different theaters, and then Chinese food (well of course!)

That sounds like a good plan... at least you're thinking of doing something nice for yourself. I will be spending Christmas alone too, but i probably won't have the energy to do anything but sit at home and eat & eat.

That sounds like a really nice way to spend the day. I spent New Years Day at the zoo a couple of years back, thinking of doing that again this year.

I'd go with you if I could - if you didn't mind some quiet company. It sounds nice.

I will be spending it in my room alone with nothing to do and no one to talk to while others go do things with other people-life is not fair and much more not fair to those of us on the spectrum.

I'll be spending it with my family, which includes me, my parents, and my dog. In all honesty, though, Christmas always makes me depressed, and I don't know why.

I'll be alone - as usual. In the past I've went down to Chinatown. I don't have a car now so I'll probably just play video games, watch movies and have a beer or two. Or three.

It turns out that the Houston Zoo is closed Christmas day, with what sounds like a family oriented event the night of the 25th. So, on to plan B.

And now that you mentioned it, Houston's Chinatown might be another possibility.

There's a reason the day before thanksgiving is the busiest day for bars, and also pretty busy for the gaming industry.

I never quite figured out why Christmas Eve does'nt get the same effect, and I live in an area where 90 percent celebrate it (at least at a secular level).

Christmas makes you feel even more alone than usual because it's a reminder that you really don't have someone to spend that special day with. Well, that's how I feel. But at least it's a public holiday and I can sit at home and eat, drink and have a good time alone. So it's not too bad after all.

xmas for me is rather anticlimactic, in that it supposedly is the climax of the [nominally christian] holiday season but nothing special actually has occurred on this particular date [jesus was born a few weeks later]. it is merely a symbolic date. so if the weather is good i'll go out and exercise and get some housework done. this xmas i was invited by other aspies to spend a few hours at their place in the city. :) but i understand how it feels to be totally alone on xmas day with nobody to talk to/be with, for that was my situation many many times.
