I have a question for people who have Autism (not Aspergers). For those of you who have Autism, which sleeping position works the best for you?

For me, sleeping on my belly works the best for me...except the only downside is if I can't use the pillow, I have to put my head on the bed, and that pushes my jaw closed and makes my teeth push together (which kinda prevents me from sleeping because I'm then focusing on my jaw/teeth). Sleeping on my back doesn't work for me, even if I had a comfortable pillow. Sleeping on my side doesn't really work very well for me either. Sleeping on my belly does. Who here (again, with Autism, not Aspergers) uses what position to sleep in?

I apologize for having Asperger's, but I sleep on my belly too.

Lets see:

Belly....then half-belly half side...then back. then fetal position....then other fetal position....then twisted around twice....then flipped over.....then belly....

Then the sheets are off the bed and I wake up....

+1 And my face is smooshed and my teeth clench.

I can only sleep on my stomach and no other position.

You said twice in your first post "Autism not Aspergers", depending on the severity of the stress I’m experiencing, I live with aspergers and autism, life at both ends of the spectrum, mild and severe autism.

Well I have Asperger's until next year. Then it's gonna get removed from the DSM and I'll have autism instead, making me eligible to answer the OP. But it's almost next year anyway, so I'll just answer now. :P

First I lie down on my back, then i'll toss to my right side for a while, then onto my stomach, then onto my left side, then onto my back, and then give my right side amiss and go straight to my stomach, then fall asleep. So yeah, I tend to sleep on my stomach.

i usually lie in some kind of 'corpselike' full stretch on my back to relax my body and mind from coping skills to offline, then i change to fetal position to sleep.
when i wake, i return to a full stretch on my back while turning my perception coping skills back on before leaving the bed.

the last fase has gotten me several comments as i often sit up straight for a bit when i'm sleeping in a group room (to prevent them from forcably waking me) while preparing for another overload day, apperantly that looks scary...

I don't need much extra, but I need to be in a certain position. I sleep on my belly with my face pointing left and my hands under me. I can't sleep with a pillow, and I can't sleep in any other position.

Hanging from a rafter in a cave.

Or on my side curled up like a fetus.

My favourite sleeping position is on my bed, but I have been known to sleep in a chair or even on the floor.

I sleep on my stomach, with my face facing towards my left.
