I'm undergoing a fasting process right now. Before I consumed the soup I just had, I had not eaten for 3 days.

I feel totally revitalized. How do you all diet and lose weight?

Eat on smaller plates and drink water beforehand, this allows you seconds which means a normal portion in total. Try this.

I "intermittent fast" but thats ONE day not THREE.

Other than that I dont eat much sugar or carbs. Stick to plants and animals. I also move around a lot.

It's not always a good idea to go that long without eating. Not eating like that can put your body into starvation mode (thus slowing your metabolism), also meaning that when you do eat something again it will turn straight into fat. It's good to eat several small meals a day but watch the calorie amount.

I play basketball every morning at the YMCA for about an hour. Then in the afternoon I do the Insanity workout to top it off. I have lost tons of weight over the last few years and I'm about 10 pounds (of fat) or less from my goal. It's also important to worry more about losing inches than losing weight because muscle weighs more than fat and if you work out, you might gain a little at first due to gaining more muscle.

I have made fitness into a special interest, bordering on an obsession because prior to making it an obsession I could never stick with it and I always failed. Only when I became obsessed with it did I achieve any type of success. My biggest motivation is seeing the progress I have made and vowing to never let myself go back to how fat I used to be. In high school up to 2006 I was quite a bit overweight. I only started to lose weight around 2007, fluctuated for a few years, and finally when I got my YMCA membership at the end of 2010 did I start to make a huge leap.

Intermittent is good, did you get the idea based on the ADF diet? I think this works best, as you can eat what you want one day and only 600 calories the next and so on and so forth................

I'm trying to lose weight right now, and basically I'm eating more low-calorie stuff (lots of fruit and vegetables), very little meat, and no candy at all. Plus I'm doing a little sports.. not much, but I'm too lazy for any more. So far I've lost about 2 kg in about three weeks.

The Tigress...when will you reach this magic goal of yours? I am sure you will forever be trying to attain it, be realistic, you are getting older, the metabolism is slowing down anyway. You can raise it by doing intense exercising and eat more fibre and protein.healthy fats. Go for exercises with weights, you dont need much, and bodyweight hybrid exercises. Basketball is waste of time.

How many calories are you eating per day then?

I don't count. But it's probably about 900 - 1200.

I play basketball because I love basketball, not just because of exercise. I could play basketball for the rest of my life and never get sick of it.

You need to keep a diary of what you eat and work out the calories that way, i bet its more like 1500, but make sure you don't starve your body.Best is one day eat whatever you want, and the next 600 cals.

Nah, I'm not the calorie counting type. I'm definately eating less, and what I eat is much healthier than before. That's enough for me. I'm not in a haste, I'd be content with maybe 1 kg less per month.

its not about haste, or you buy a diet book with menus in offering calories for that day..1200, 1500, 2000,2500, and u could calorie cycle, thats very interesting, but you do need to know how many calories you eat to cover your vitamins.minerals, or risk becoming deficient..not good.

I got the idea from the Paleo diet. I believe humans should eat as we evolved to eat, rather than the processed crap we find today.

i didnt hear of ADF before or an insanity workout. Alternate day fasting would work as it fits with the above. I like it, Try that. I still have 15% body fat so maybe doing the fast more than once a week would help get to 9%. It changes pretty quickly and mostly my ego cared more in summer. lol

I could never be counting calories too rigid. I have a vague idea and ask myself.........is it full of carbs and sugar?

I loved basketball, its a great workout. Better than tennis what I play now, but as a game I prefer tennis as its 50/50 mental and physical.
