In the past couple of years, I have been experiencing ever increasing amounts of anxiety, often for no plausible reason. It's general anxiety, not just social anxiety. I've also become more absent-minded and prone to sensory overload. I found myself very prone to sudden mood changes. My energy levels seemed to drop substantially. I have realized that it is due to lack of B vitamins, particularly Vitamin B6 and B12, and more recently, Vitamin B2.

I have taken Adderall for over nine years to treat my ADHD and it has helped me to concentrate better on areas, such as schoolwork. I've traced the source of my Vitamin B deficiency to Adderall. On the occasions that I have been forced to go off it, I was much less anxious and a lot more energetic, but a lot more hyperactive.

Has any other aspie experienced Vitamin B deficiency? I'd love to hear your story and any suggestions you might have.

I'm sorry that I can't help you out because I have never experienced Vitamin B deficiency, but I would like to post here that there is no correlation between calcium deficiency and frequent meltdowns.

I would just like to leave a warning to those thinking about taking vit B supplements to help some of their problems...
...Get tested for a deficiency if you can before increasing your vit B levels, I was on a supplement with a lot of vit B in it for a while, and while it helped/didn't really make a difference at first, after a couple of weeks, I started feeling more depressed, and suicidal than ever before. I've come across parents with more servere autistic children who gave their children vit B supplements, and it often helped at first, but after a while went on to cause more harm than good.
If you don't have a deficiency, it's not recommended that you take vit B supplements.
So I just wanted to warn Wrongplaneter's about one of the side efftecs of too much vit B.

If you think you're having nutritional problems, you need to see a medical professional. Nutritional problems are, after all, medical in nature.

Unfortunately most doctors will just say you're deficient in vitamin Prozac, and send you on your way. Chasing nutritional fires around is much too hard.

So find the exception to the rule.

It isn't that easy to overdose on vitamin B, though there is ONE that could hurt you if you take too much. It IS very hard to do, but still possible. Vitamin B is water soluble and used for nerves, skin, and energy.

A doctor can either run labs, examine you, all that, or he can be like "Oh, you're depressed, have some *insert antidepressant*" and send you off. 9/10 doctors easily will do this. The only exceptions are naturopaths and unfortunately for them there's no regulation, and finding a good one is hard.

Yup, most doctors don't care about their patients and are perfectly fine with drugging them up.

Well a little of topic but i started talking a variety of multivitamins recently to combat various ailments, as im convinced my current diet is a little - krapola to be honest.
The only side effect ive got so far is that i lay away for hours at night, able to think in perfect rationality. So much so that unfortunatly for me my neighbours decided to "get it on" at 3am and i overheard it all. So defo recommended vitamins for dedicated perverts.

Naturopaths are the only exceptions? I think not! Total overgenerealization.

even among the mainstream doctors, finding the proverbial needle in haystacks not guaranteed to have a needle is more trouble than it's worth.

You still need to go to the doctor if you think you have nutritional issues.

I only consult a doctor if I need prescription meds or surgical intervention -- that's what they're good at. If I were to check with any professional about nutritional issues, it would be someone who specializes in nutrition, not someone who specializes in drugs.
