I went to a psychologist today and this time I brought a sketch book he liked some of the drawings I had and after I was done he pointed out that a lot of my drawings either didn't have people in it, there face was hidden or face was completely blank.

So I thought about it and it was sort of weird most people find blank creepy why do I like them so much?

When I asked what blank faces ment he said it was typical for children to draw like that but when I asked what other people might have drawn like that he avoided answering.

Perhaps you should specialise in drawing mannequins, hmm? ;)

I personally like blank faces on people, it just makes them so mysterious looking, it's cool.
So don't think it's strange if you like to draw expressionless faces because I do too :)

I always draw faces. I do a lot of comic strips of myself and my family, and my favourite part of drawing out these comic strips is doing the faces.

Perhaps that's just your drawing style, you know, simplistic but striking or something. Alternatively, it could be that you don't want to acknowledge the facial expressions in others because of the emotional confusion it causes. Perhaps drawing them in, would make you have to analyse that aspect of your pictures more and you have a fear of getting it wrong.

I like drawing eyes, myself.

To each their own. :)

Yes! People seem to consider me artistically talented and in college, I received high praise from the art instructors but I can't, for the life of me, draw a face. My landscape pencil art can approach photorealism from memory but I'm completely unable to accurately draw facial proportions that don't look incredibly abnormal. Weirder still, I don't have any facial recognition problems and can actually recognize faces I've only seen once in passing on campus, years later on a bus. It kind of sucks because people generally hold a beautiful portrait in higher regard than a few trees, a river and mountains.

It means your brain doesn't process faces normally, and probably has a severely reduced appreciation for facial features compared to the neurotypical human. This is a normal "feature" of AS.

That's a big assumption. What if it's just OP's preference to draw that way, and it doesn't stem from anything other than that?

With the amount and kind of information provided, any response is basically a guess. It is possible that I'm reading too much into one comment and jumping to a conclusion. But if the OP does indeed have AS then the lack of interest in expressive faces has a very convenient explanation.

I suppose you might say that about my drawings. I like to draw people looking contemplative, when I draw people, which probably is basically the same as "blank". It's also probably the same as my own default expression, which is likely why I draw it.

Really definite facial expressions often look kind of wrong to me (whoever draws them, or even in real life) - kind of fake.
