February 22, 23,and 24 are the tentative [pretty sure] dates for the mini retreat. That is a Saturday, Sunday, and Monday night. The plan is for 11 till 1 pm for check-in. [course if you're late, that's cool. If you're early, well, we'll put you to work.] On Monday. we'll be going to Denver Aquarium. Ian Ford [Fieldguide to Earthlings] is coming. He will speak on and sign your books. Xenia Grant, one of the founders of ANI will be speaking on sexual abuse of autistics and at least one other thing. I will be stuttering and stammering my way through a talk and discussion on building an autistic housing community within an already pre-existing community. There will be other speakers and demonstrations [you?] and sharing of preserverations [you?] entertainment, and a respect of autistic space.
We are looking for a total group of between 12 and 18 people. As I mentioned before, this will be held at a nudist resort in the winter , so you probably will see no naked people but there is no guarantee of only seeing clothed people except in the lodge. Plus, the only place anyone is required to be nude is in the hot tub. WE will also have access to [not sure if it's 24/7 or not, the clubhouse, sauna, ping pongl table, television, pool table, and pinball machine [unless that is a trigger for anyone attending] The pool table and pinball machine are free, no quarters needed.
Food will basically be old fashioned comfort food. We will happily make accommodations for vegetarian, vegan and gluten free meals if we know well in advance.
Cost will be $100 a person. You do not know me from Adam, so I will not expect money in advance.[we will be getting a loan and will be paying it back directly after the retreat] but PLEASE, if you say you are going to come, and you say you are going to pay when you arrive, PLEASE DO!
Unfortunately, there are no private bedrooms so we'll have to share but we will try to find the best roommate combinations possible. We will also have 2 quiet rooms and my ice cream shop. It will not be stocked fully as in the summer, but it will be stocked enough to keep any ice cream lover VERY happy.
We have many deer, a few foxes and sometimes turkeys hanging around. We have our resident bear but she'll be hibernating.
one of the reasons we are able to keep costs so low is that we are cooking on-site [same building that we sleep in, so there will be cooking aromas] and we request that everyone puts in an hour or so a day to help cook, clean, bring in firewood, help set up and break down displays, rolls silverware, whatever.
We are keeping costs super low. That being said, if someone wants to come but can not pay for the actual retreat, we might be able to help.
