I'm looking into getting therapy for the first time and would highly appreciate some recommendations for good psychiatrists and speech therapists in Manhattan. Anyone care to share their experience?

Sorry if this has been posted before—I did search the forums to no avail.
Thank you

Would Park Slope in Brooklyn be too far?

A Manhattan location would be ideal, but I'm still interested to hear your recommendation. Go ahead!

Hmm I see. Well this therapist has little to no experience with ASD's and I am a mild case (self-diagnosed though she agrees with me). So if you are looking for someone who is specialized this might not be the best for you. I really appreciate how open she is though and how she avoids pathologizing every little thing as my previous therapists have (some of these being more trained to work with ASD's and more up to date with recent psychological trends... which worked against me really).

I live on Long Island but did go to a support group once that was facilitated by Lynda Geller, a psychologist who practices in Manhattan, she founded this organization http://spectrumservicesnyc.com/aboutus.html. I've never been to a therapy session with her but she seemed good from the group.

Thanks to you both.

I did stumble upon Spectrum Services, and they do seem legit—unfortunately they also fall into the "out-of-network" canyon of my health plan, which renders them too expensive for me.

I did book an appointment yesterday—just ended up screening the list from my insurer and pretty much picking one doctor at random. That ought to be fun!
