My initial thought would have been "I hope the websites' server PSU dies of age, making the site inaccessible and striking a lightning bolt into whoever wrote that in the process", if I wouldn't have known that I'm reading an Encyclopedia Dramatica article in which someone was not even able to write psychopathy correct (they wrote "psycopathy") and which is obviously supposed to be a joke - although I agree that one can feel offended by it. I have to note that this "encyclopedia" is pretty much a troll site bashing pretty much everything there is and trolling the world, it's one of the reasons I do not read it, why spam my brain with false information? I consider that a waste of time.

Well, those who actually believe what has been written there and start having a negative view on people with ASD and AS are probably acting like that one idiot (mild formulation) in this thread anyway after the Newtown shooting and I can very well imagine it's such people writing such "jokes" too. They're easily being influenced by media anyway, I guess.

I think it won't change a lot about the public view on aspies and there is nothing to be worried about, no need to even waste energy being angry about it.

I seem to remember Uncyclopedia's definition of AS to be infinitely more satire like and an actually attempt to be funny.

I take anything that Encyc Dramatic says with a grain of salt.

Very similar to how I take anything the Westboro Baptist Church says, equally worthless and useless.

Wow, I"m seriously offended by that page, especially considering the already prevalant crap out there about AS. I vote that we petition to have that eyesore removed from existence, and buried in the forgotten land of dumb***es.

Either that or burn the whole site down

if you let yourself offended by encyclopedia dramatica, you are really missing the point. Its entirely satirical, in the same vein as a Sacha Baron Cohen character or Ambrose Bierce's 'The devil's dictionary'.

If you take offence, you're validating its content and giving the trolls a victory.

The internet meme wikis are trash indeed, and the people who wrote that stuff up are probably aspies in denial themselves, with an inferiority complex.

just because something is meant to be funny, doesn't mean it's not offensive, and it certainly doesn't mean people can't feel offended by it. Furthermore, being offended by content does not validate it in any way, shape, or form.

depends on the context. A lot of articles on ED are meant to lampoon people who are easilly upset, or are easilly provoked to rise to what they're saying.

If you react with anger you're pretty much being the stereotype they are portraying.

I found some of it very funny - does that make me a traitor?

I think you have to be able to laugh at yourself and the person who wrote that page is either an aspie themself,
with a very black sense of humour, or someone who knows one very well.

I think the person has got very frustrated by people with Aspergers on forums possibly and is having their revenge

You don't have to apologize. I viewed that site myself. Some of the stuff on there is funny IMO. But other stuff on there is just plain awful. But what do you expect to see on a site named 'Encyclopedia Dramatica'? I'd just ignore what is being said on the site and move on if I didn't like what was being said on there.

Reacting with anger doesn't make someone an a**hole just because other people think so, it just means they aren't going to sit by and allow other people to play on them and insult them in the form of "humor". The reality is, anyone who can sit back and make jokes about people and whatever issues they have, knowing those people would find it insulting and offensive, are a**holes.
There's a difference between funny and just plain offensive, and that page, regardless of how some may see it, is offensive. And no amount of calmness on my part in reaction to it will change that.

That hug box is something I would really not like. And someone must have spent a bit of time on that article.
