I've been trying to get the film 'Shameful - Autism in France - Trailer Released' (linked above) to work, and although the link works the film always freezes up. Anyway, why is it considered to be 'shameful'? What's it about, and how bad is it really?

It's been a while since I watched it but if it is the same thing I am thinking about then essentially some woman recounts her story about how her young (non adult) autistic son was confined on a ward and given anti-psychotics against the mother's will and how she was only allowed to visit him for short periods. IIRC they may have been treating autism as a psychiatric disorder which could be cured rather than taking the more correct approach of just helping everyone involved learn how to deal with it.

It should also be noted that sadly the son took his own life.
