Hey WP,
So I've been diagnosed for a little over a year now, and have only received a formal diagnosis of Asperger's.
The more I engage with the Aspie community and talk with other aspies, however, the more I think that, like so many other Aspeis, I also have co-morbid disorders that are undiagnosed. When I hear of these things, it's been present my whole life, but when mentioned I hear "doesn't everyone?"/ "So what?" Or, in other cases "get over it"/"You are too smart to let that small thing stop you".
I've been diagnosed with Asperger's 3 times now, so I think it's safe to say I officially have that, but all the other tests I've been given come back completely normal. I'm not schizo-typical or depressed (ooh that's a favorite of the doctors though!) or ADHD or whatever... at least not any more. I was told I was ADHD growing up by parents with kids with ADHD.
So my question to you is- what are your co-morbids? Were you officially diagnosed with them? How? Is it worth it to look into?
"Co-morbids" I suspect (confirmed in my opinion):
Dyscalculia (the numbers-dyslexia)
Hypermobility - Can bend fingers on both hands at first joint
Circadium Rhythm Disorder- practically nocturnal. Sleep from circa 6am to 2pm when left to my own devices
Not formally diagnosed with any of these, but I see the symptoms as clearly in my life as I see those of Asperger's.
