End of January I have an intake appointment for a day care center for adults with an ASD.
I cannot function alone properly and need some kind of external structure and supervision.
They offer activities such as working with the computer, learning cooking skills, doing art and outdoor activities and others, but I do not know the whole offer yet.
As far as I know one can choose the activities one wants to do and there are choices between activities one can do alone or in a group.
There is staff giving accompany and also teachers.
In the evening I can go home.

Does anyone have experience with being in a day care center?
I am a little scared as I do not cope well with change, but I really like doing art (painting).

Has anyone experience being in a day care center for autistic adults?
Can it help to improve my functioning?
With improving I mean if it will learn me to be able to function on my own.

They often aim specifically at 'transition', where I work the process involves learning how To function independently as an adult on the spectrum. The name is derived from the move From dependent living and may involve things such as managing a budget to go grocery shopping and then cooking with what you purchase, everyday skills which can be essential. It could be things such as this or it could be different things perhaps mainly a social group. I am sure either way it will be a valuable experience and it must be fairly useful for there to still be people attending.

Where I am, the service you're describing is called a "day program". They may tell you, if asked point blank, that they've had people "graduate" from the program to get a job, but I think most of the time, that isn't the case. I definitely see the potential for somebody going to a day care/program for several decades if it operates "correctly".

I suppose if you need either the external structure it might benefit you. The thing is, I don't. If only people would understand! But if you need that, go for it! Just expect to go for a year at the minimum. This isn't something you go to for a few weeks or months.

Thank you for replying.
End of January I will know further details about this day care center and it's...I do not know if "service" is the right word to use.
I do not know if there is any help with getting a job later, meaning they provide some sort of job-education or providing working place later.
But maybe it's purpose is to provide structure and social engagement.

Today I had my intake appointment, but it can take up to one year to get a place.
They offer education in self-help skills like communication and social adaptation, cooking and stuff and doing supervised activities.
In fact today I met for the first time other autistic people from whom I knew that they are autistic and I liked the atmosphere in that place a lot.
I saw great art-work made by them.
