How is it that some people enjoy pain?

https://justpaste.it/4ruzk

I once wandered with a friend who suffers from the so-called attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, more commonly known as ADHD ( i have Asperger and more cautious), he said that he was not always a good child for his parents, who were good but demanding, they used corporal punishment, but they were not some degenerates who like to beat children.

My friend said that he often did not meet their high requirements, especially in terms of good manners, so that he often got spanked :-)
But for him getting spanked became strangely pleasant, to the extent that his parents, to his great sadness, they gave up this type of punishment, because they decided that it was to be a punishment and not a reward :-)

He likes it even today, because he likes how his wife beats him during sex, that for his wife when she was just his girlfriend it was a great surprise, she considered him a perv, which is a bit true, but she still loved him the way he is :-)

There are many reasons that a person may crave pain, either in a sexual, or in a nonsexual context.

Non sexual:

I was hanging with two guys who were both mental health patients (one schizophrenic, the other bipolar and with a schizotypal personality). Both chimed in and agreed that they "liked unskilled construction work", and liked it because of the physical pain you end up with at the end of the day from head to toe. That because the pain "takes your mind off of"...well...your mind. And makes you less schizophrenic. Interesting.

Sexual:

To be honest with you... if you're an adult, and you're lying across the lap of another adult, and your both hetero, and you're of the opposite of sex of the person whose lap you're lying across, and you can feel each other's genitalia through the layers of your clothes, and if the other person starts to whack you (open handed, or even better with a whip)it can be HAWT. A hooker showed me once. I liked it, but haven't done it since. But we are getting into "Adult Issues" country here.

But I am not like your friend who craves it all of the time.

Back to nonsexual:

Some folks are into "cutting" their skin. It seems to be a kinda of emotional safety valve for excess negative emotions.

Any way cutting own body or provoking parents to spank to get off is kind of creepy to me, or maybe I'm not autistic enough :D

There are some kinds of pain that have a problem tolerating even if the pain is mild such as a headache. I don't enjoy headache pain. I also don't enjoy gallbladder pain or any other unfamiliar internal organ pain since I start to think the worst.

Other pains of the body I can enjoy because I've found them to be interesting, even fascinating. I injured my neck muscles so severely a few years ago that I was bedridden and the pain was excruciating when I tried to shift positions. At one point I started to cry and then after a few seconds I started laughing. I was laughing because it became comical to me that the pain could be that bad.

I had shingles once on one side of my chest, shoulder, neck and face and the pain was like I'd imagine having your skin scraped off. At its worst, the pain was nearly unbearable. I moaned and groaned. Even so, while I was going through the process of that disease, I was able to find the experience to be fascinating and weirdly enjoyable since I'd never experienced such a thing before.

I'm also a person who actually enjoys physically aching all over after an intensely physical day of work.

I don't enjoy any pain, but the pain I can tolerate the most is a headache.

Otherwise I am hypersensitive to pain, to the point where it makes me fearful, anxious, avoidant and, in extreme cases, suicidal.
That is why I have not been pregnant, because the childbirth scares me, even C-section I heard is painful afterwards.
I couldn't even handle period pains, it made me so unwell with the pain that I had to go on the pill. So aren't labour pains one, big period pain at an extreme level? Ouch!! How do other women do it???

It seems that from a really young age I did lots of painful things because it was calming to me. Ie as a very small toddler I would rip out chunks of my hair and I have memories of holding ice and burning my skin when I was a bit older. I can't really explain the hair because it was so long ago but as for the other ones, extreme cold and heat both give way to numbness and that was what I was looking for because numbness is interesting/calming to me. I don't do either anymore because it isn't great for your body to regularly touch burning hot/freezing cold things and I have more sense now. So I didn't enjoy the pain but found the numbness afterwards comforting. I think that came from the fact though that I have problems processing pain properly and my sensory stuff is all a bit out of whack. I don't like pain in general though. If I did I'd be loving life lol

I don’t enjoy pain, nonsexual or otherwise.

I’m sensory avoidant. Perhaps sensory seeking individuals tolerate it better although I’d say that my tolerance is in the average range. I seemed to have a high pain tolerance as a kid which friends and caregivers frequently commented upon. Hmm...

We all experience pain differently, too. For some, it can be a real problem because they can not know when they are really hurt. I think that’s pretty unusual, though.

A little unrelated but during this trip to Wisconsin a couple weeks before I started 8th grade, I went to this patch of land where this guy gave us dirt bike lessons. I was struggling to master operating this one bike and the thing took of on me. I held on to the handles for a few seconds before the dirt bike and I fell and I hurt my knee in the process. I pulled up my jeans and it turned out I had peirced the skin in front of my kneecap. Looked like a triangle cut into a circle. I still can see where it was a little bit.

Oddly, that memory is a good one for me.

I enjoy being touched though. It's almost like a sensory seeking type of thing. This may sound weird but when I was a kid I loved it when the school nurse went through my hair to look for lice. I often tried to prolong it by saying that my head has been itchy, so that the nurse would spend a bit longer ruffling through my hair while I sat there enjoying it.
And having lice was also a blessing to me, because my mum would sit me in front of the TV and comb through my hair for ages, and it felt like a massage to me, whilst watching TV. What a treat!

I couldn't stand it when people touched me when I was a kid.

Pain doesn't bother me unless it's dental pain.

If I have a fever or thirst, I'll want to die.
