I am wondering if it is as common as I think for aspies to feel lonely. I have a theory that we deeply need social interaction, but are somehow allergic to it.

Insanity-inducing lonely here.

These days I go back and forth between moderate and soul-gnawing.

Sometimes its hard to tell whether its loneliness or boredom. Does that make sense?

I tend to get more lonely around holidays because everyone else is asking "so what did you do for Thanksgiving, Xmas, New Years, etc." It reminds me of how I no longer have any close friends in town that care enough to invite me to their get togethers. I had a couple friends before that I went everywhere with but they moved away. Now Valentines day is just horrid because of everyone at work saying what their boyfriend bought them. Or they have flowers or balloon bouquets on their desks. Then they play love songs all day on the radio. Just rub it in to all the people that are single and not dating.

I'm almost never lonely. I love being alone.

I live with my husband now, but I used to live alone, and I really enjoyed it. I often wish I could somehow keep him but not actually live with him. Like have houses right next door or something.

Do you have separate bedrooms at least? I think I would need a separate room if I ever get married. Several of my friends have separate rooms from their spouse.

Actually, I guess I don't feel nearly as lonely as I "should". I just said a "little".

There are times when I get wrapped up in my own world and am not lonely at all. Like I've had a lot of health issues in past couple yrs and not able to get out much so I've gotten lonely. But before that when I was out fishing and hiking I didn't want anyone else around spoiling my fun.

:(

I feel that insanity-inducing loneliness.

I've tried making friends, but since I usually only meet NTs I end up always being made fun of.
That makes it even worse.

I feel lonely and hopeless.

Same here! Used to be terribly lonely, even after living with my husband for quite a while. I seem to have got my life balanced just about right now. I do my voluntary job twice a week and that's all the socialising I do really. I have no desire for more interaction. I know my husband is there for me and we get on with our own things. I feel very lucky!
