I am very sleep deprived (and hopefully going to help fix that in a minute) and I have noticed over the past four days when I have had my sleep involuntarily shortened (hail storm, neighbors, rain, cats, etc) my problems with proprioception have gotten worse. I have trouble grabbing things because I have to look to see where my arm is, I run into many more objects than usual. My fingers feel odd and tingly unless I look at them. I was wondering if anyone knew if my proprioception difficulties could be related to my sleep habits, or how.

This has occurred a few times with me as well. The first time, I thought I was having a reaction to food (that may have been tainted with caffeine), but after two separate events, I made the connection that not sleeping for 72 hours does this to me...

In regards to the part about having to look at what I am grabbing, I have to do that normally (it's especially a good idea when surrounded by people - you wouldn't want to be slammed with a sexual harassment claim/be in an awkward position).

Lose enough sleep and everything starts to deteriorate. I once went through something like 8-9 days of 100% insomnia (rx med withdrawl, Elavil. Evil, EVIL stuff!). All my abilities slid downhill at a rapid rate. Paranoia? Yeah that & waking dreams.

Sincerely,
Matthew

The last time it happened I thought it was too much coffe but as this has happened several times now and all when I have had several nights of bad sleep I think that might be the culprit. And by bad sleep I am not horrible , just 4 nights of 6 to5 hours.
