Are ASpie's focused on their condition first as their means of identity? Much like a black person sees themselves as black first, or Jewish first, or fat first or whatever their 'condition' is. This seems to be a trait that minority groups take on. Really though, we are all minoity groups, and yet some of us seems to identify with our difference as our first introductory description. Should we be that focused on being different? Or does that give us an out?
Just wondering.

My score is ASpie 156. Just in case you were wondering.

I'm more focused on my personality as a part of my identity, than I am on my AS.

I think too many, here, focus on 'how they are' in public which, I think, simply makes everything way worse then it actually is.

Well since Asperger's came around when I was well into my 30's, I would say, no, it didn't define me. I find it interesting in that it explains many things about me, but it's not me. I'm kind of wondering how much personality affects the Asperger's. I wonder if symptoms manifest differently according to our personalities.

I don't let it define who I am, it just helps me understand some of my quirks and reasons for doing certain things.
