I was just wondering if anyone had any favorite stim toys? There are stim toys like Tangle toys, Koosh balls, squeeze balls, etc, and then there are stim toys that are "found" objects, like straws, a necklace with movable parts, a keychain, anything like that. Pretty much anything can count as a stim toy, I think! :)

Here's a picture of my current favorite stim toys...and some plushies:

Image

Top row: Mostly plushies - there's Oh, Baby Sadness, Dory the dolphin, my favorite Disney Tsum Tsums (Baymax, Tiny Sadness, Baby Dumbo and Zizz - a Dumbo Tsum who always sleeps), Babs, and a fuzzy mouse named Frederick. There's also a tiny knit finger puppet that I like b/c he looks like Daniel the striped tiger from Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood. All he's missing is a tiny Hungarian wristwatch. :)

Next, there's my velvety purple hair scrunchie that I wear on my wrist, my keychain of Grumpy the dwarf, my favorite Calico Critters, and my favorite chewable pendant from Stimtastic.

Third row, there's my Mp3 player and earbuds, my fuzzy Tangle, my pink and purple Tangle, and my Tangle Relax, Susie the coupe and the little Hello Kitty pouch she travels in, and a white-ish doll's cap with green ribbons on it - I like to toss it in the air sometimes when I listen to music.

Lastly, there's my snake twist from Stimtastic, a textured Tangle that lost one of its links, a pill container with the image of a hobo crow on the lid (where I keep Ibuprofen), some Orbit gum, my two favorite stones, and one of those rubbery, pink fuzzy wormy thingies (I really don't know what they're called  ). I also have a blue microbead stress ball (not pictured here).

Does anyone else have favorite stim toys, or objects to stim with? I'd love to hear about them. :) If you have pictures, that would be cool, too.

I like to play with pens that have clicky and twisty bits. (Playing with the clicky part of clicky pens drives others insane, unfortunately.)

I have a few strings of small glass beads on elastic string that I like to play with.

I loved to chew on straws as a child but stopped after I had ripped my mouth open on the sharp plastic straw edges one too many times. I also chewed on pencils until the paint was flaking off and they got sharp edges. Now I have chew noodles and I like them but I think I might be happier with something like a pendant or beads I could wear on my wrist.

I have a Tangle Relax, too....I've played with it so much that close to half the pieces are broken (the connector-bits snapped off at the ends -- I think it's mostly from me snapping the pieces together and pulling them apart over and over).

My leather lanyard that clips onto my belt loop is my favorite. I like twist it and twine it around my.fingers. I like chewing on it too. I also like squishy balls and spikey balls.

I can't work out how to add pictures from my desktop to my post, but I'll describe my stim toys.

I have a large wooden box with a latch that I got from Hobby Lobby and painted, which I keep all my toys in. Most of them are tactile. I have:

- Four containers of silly putty: two glow in the dark, one that's heat sensitive and changes colours, and one tin of "thinking putty" that's magnetic.
- Two squishy splat balls; one full of water, the other with a sort of microbead gel.
- A ziploc bag full of gel beads which burst out of my giant five pound smiley face stress ball.
- Three tangles; one fuzzy which I carry in my purse, one hairy, and one original.
- Two slinkys; one plastic mini one with a smiley face on it, and one standard orignal.
- Two koosh balls; one that I keep in my school bag, with the other as a backup (I broke my first one and wanted to make sure I had a spare in case I did it again).
- Various stretchy toys including: a rubber glow in the dark snake, a pair of mini stretchy strings tied together, a rubber rat I got out of a vending machine, and a mini stretchy "puff ball" yoyo
- A giant nine-inch clear water snake with glitter inside
- An orange lollipop-shaped chewy (I also have two hollow purple chewy tubes tied to the drawstrings of my weighted vest).
- An oil and water cube (technically it's a rectangular prism) with blue oil and penguins that float on top
- An oil and water spiral timer which drips droplets of purple oil down a spiral shaped ramp
- Two soapstone whiskey spheres (they're technically meant to be put in whiskey glasses to cool drinks, but I love their round shape, weight and smoothness, so I use them as stim toys).

I also used to have a lava lamp, but I left it on for too long and the lava went funky. I need to replace it, because I loved watching the gooey bubbles rise and fall.

Any papers lying around I can fold/ball up. A pile of small spitball sized paper balls is left behind me if I've been anywhere for over 15 minutes. I sometimes shred these papers instead. I will break a toothpick into so many pieces you cant tell what it once was.

My fingernails. Self explanatory, but I've broken one of my front teeth from biting my nails so much.

Strings on my hoodie or any other article of clothing.

I've thought about getting actual objects to fidget with, but it's always just been things like that.

Beakybird, I got my chewys after noticing that I was chewing holes in the neck holes of my shirts and the cuffs of my sweaters. You might find something like that helpful for your chewing compulsion; they're better for your teeth and nails. I also tend to shred bits of paper if I have access to it, which is why I find my portable tactile stim toys like my tangle and my koosh ball so helpful.

Thing is, if I got some objects to replace biting my nails I don't think it would work and I would probably lose them. I obsessively run my fingers across one another and if I feel the slightest jagged edge I must bite.
