I'm not sure why, but after I have completed a certain amount of work/tasks, my mind creates a barrier; I can't comprehend simple equations or sentences and I develop a headache. I become frustrated, because I know that I have more things to do during the day, but I'm too mentally exhausted.

This is the state I am in at the moment. I have only done a 40 minute workout and 2 hours of study and I'm completed used. This is so infuriating. I want to get a part time job, and feel like I'm doing something, but if I do I won't be able to handle my school work.

Does anyone else have this issue? What do you do to mitigate it?

This is having a profound effect on my life, and I need it gone.

Yep thats the same as me. I've been diagnosed with all sorts of things - chronic fatigue, low testosterone, low blood sugar, among other things.

All sorts of things can cause mental fatigue. You should look into supplements to find out what might work for you. Experimenting with supps has been pretty much the only thing that has helped me. Try Rhodiola for example which boosts dopamine. Or you might be zinc deficient. Could be many things, but you just gotta try some things out and see how you go.

The only things I've found that help much are to take breaks when I start feeling drained, and to try not to do too many of the more exhausting things in a row (do some of the easier things I need to do in between). At work, when I started to feel worn out I'd wander off and grab a coffee for a few minutes before trying anything else that needed concentration (I drank a lot of coffee that way). Even then, I'd be pretty drained by the end of the day... but I could at least get through the day. If it helps at all, I did notice that in school and at work most people seemed to waste a surprisingly large amount of time if they had the opportunity... so a lot of short breaks don't necessarily make someone any lazier than the others.

Very familiar, especially the part about sentences loosing all meaning. I wish knew of a solution, but all I know is that, for me, trying to force it with willpower/caffeine/Adderal(legally) only made it worse. (So, yeah, don't try that.) In a better world this would have a name and be a recognized disability and people could get accommodations for it if they needed it.

I also have a "chronic fatigue syndrome" and other diagnoses. Ten years of treatments for that never helped (though I did get some food allergies/reactions sorted out as a side-effect), unfortunately.

I think this is normal, if you're studying for 2 hours you should take breaks when you need them as it's difficult to stay focused for that long.
