I read somewhere that AS people love pockets.
I love pockets and bags. I need a pocket because it gives me a place to put my hands. If I'm walking I don't know what to do with my hands. I just realized that I hold my hands together funny when I walk. If I have pockets I put my hands in there, or if I carry a pocketbook I grasp onto the strap. I also carry lots of bags. I am worried that I will forget something, or worry I might come across something I need to put it somewhere, so I carry an extra bag just in case. I don't put any other stuff into my pants pockets because then I feel lumpy and asymmetrical. I also carry too much stuff with me, things I hardly ever need, but carry just in case I might need it. It drives my husband nuts. He thinks he married a bag lady.
Why do other people get so interested in pockets?

I'm with you on this ;). In high school, my pants pockets were always packed with pens, pencils, random papers, a napkin or two and probably a few other things. I also seriously have no idea what to do with my hands when I walk, so pockets are great for that. I think if I didn't care so much about how people perceive me these days, I'd be pretty content wearing cargo pants stuffed full of crap :D.

Well, I will only wear cargo pants, because of all those useful pockets. And I love jackets with pockets, and hate shirts with no pockets - even those with only one annoy me. I put my hands in my pants pockets, or sometimes my jacket pockets, and I use all my pockets to carry things in.

Messenger bags, briefcases, army surplus engineer pouches (I think it's the M-51 I want / need to get) appeal to me as well, so I can carry the things I may need / want at any moment.

I like to put my hands in my pants pockets. I have a cargo vest with many pockets. My father requires pockets in his shirts to put pens in them.

I carry way too many things so I'm always carrying a messenger bag or backpack.

I love pockets as well. I remember I used to own a pair of pants with no pockets, which annoyed me to no end. All my jackets must also, as a requirement, have an internal pocket (when they asked me about how the prom jacket should be, all I said was "It must have a pocket"). I also like carrying around at least a messenger bag, and feel weird when I don't

I love pockets and bags too. For pants I only wear jeans and I even have specific things that go in each pocket. My left back pocket is where my lighter goes, it is always a red mini-Bic. If I'm carrying cash that I need to get to quickly (bus fare etc.) that goes in that pocket as well. Any change I carry goes in my front left pocket. In my front right is my cherry chapstick. In the "5 pocket" the little mini pocket on the right I keep anything special or important, like if I'm out and I have to take off one of my rings. The right back pocket is where I put cigarette butts until I can find a trash can, I am a smoker but I don't litter :)

I also wear a hoodie if I'm out of my house with cigs in the right pocket, iPhone and headphones in the left. Plus I carry a messenger bag or backpack at all times. Once I was going somewhere with a friend so I was transferring my stuff from my backpack to one of my smaller bags. I told her I was just paring it down to essentials and we both laughed at the fact that in my essentials I included three notebooks! Lol, I'm a writer, what can I say.

Me too. I do like having pockets in my clothes and I always carry stuff with me. It was much worse when I was younger but now I can manage with a pocket or two only.
I often have to dress up for formal occasions and the fact that I'll have to carry only a miniature clutch with me is very disturbing.

I love pockets as well. I always need pockets in my tops as well and ordered 4 tops so I can have a change. As well as my pants having pockets, all my new tops that I'm expecting will have nice big pockets as well.

You can never have enough pockets. People who make work uniforms need to get that through their heads.

Oh yes, I like pockets.

I can't walk down the street with no coat or bag..as my arms just flap around uselessly by my side and I feel awkward.

I don't go out often anyway, apart from to walk my dogs, and then i have leads in my hands, but otherwise I have to have a bag to i can hold the strap with 1 hand and my other hand will be in my pocket :)

Yes, I must have pockets and my parents always comment on how they have too much stuff in them, making them look lumpy.

It annoys me when I have to wear slacks as for some reason they insist on putting fake pockets in women's slacks and I have to carry around a small purse instead.

I always hated to try to figure out what to do with my hands while standing still. For years I would stand "at ease" with my hands behind my back until someone asked me once why I often stood like that. It was great because my hands had a definite place to be. After being asked about it, though, I became rather self conscious about it and quit.

I need pockets, too. I ended up not wearing those shirts without pockets that I bought because they were useless. So when I buy clothing nowadays, pockets are a requirement.

I have heard men's pockets are generally for practical use and women's are more for style and that's why many women love handbags. Men don't care if they have bulging pockets on them, but women do care. Well, I think it's rather a simple generalization. I don't like bulging pockets not because it looks unstylish, but because muggers can see I have something in there.

I always carry a bag (often a small backpack), too just in case. In it, I also have some plastic bags so that I can put even more things in them if I buy something. The idea of having some extra space to put things in gives me a sense of security.
