Sometimes I get a picture in my head of absolute nonsense. An example might be an image of flying cheeses or the character Horrid Henry pooping out absolutely bizarre things.

Has anyone else found that they get pictures of absolute nonsense in their mind?

Only as an expression of literalism.

If you say 'it's raining cats and dogs' I see pets coming down from the sky.

Like Ettina, cats and dogs fall out of the sky, - but perhaps you should find words to match your nonsense images? It might be your creativity begging you to make something of them.
