I just wondered, because there are potentially multiple genes involved in autism, and also some non-genetic causes, whether this affects the inner experiences of some people with autism compared to others.

I know with it being a spectrum everyone has their own 'mix & match' of traits in varying degrees and we all also have our own personalities and life experiences etc., but there are times I identify totally with things people post about how they feel/react and other times it sounds very unlike me. So I just wondered whether there could be differences depending on the different causes of peoples' autism.

I wonder the same thing.

Yes, there are.

Autistic people are highly variable, as I am finding in research study.

Do you mean your research is investigating the different causes of autism and how it affects people's experience within each category?

For given measure, autistic people behave in different ways, in different subgroups.

If two people take an Aspie Quiz, they might have a similar score, but a lot of their answers might not match up.

What do you mean by causes? I thought a lot of the time the cause is unknown.

I can see how causes would exist and effect people in different ways if there was neurological impairment via brain trauma that could be caused by different things like getting mugged, being in an auto accident, drug overdose.

But I can't equate that to autism. I thought that in the majority of cases it's just something you were born with?
