I have been waiting, all day, to capture some images of swimming ducks by the lake of a friend of ours. And Just kinda sat there and waited for a while. When they jumped in the lake I ran out with the camera in my socks and with no jacket and took a few shots. Completely elated because it finally happened! I was not aware that I had no shoes on until I came back inside and sat down. My feet are cold and dirty!
Anyone else gotten hyper focused to the point they forgot something really important? Its happened to me quite often, just not with shoes.

Perseverative thinking. Yes... and my family hates when I get it.. especially when it involves me getting frustrated.

Oh yes. Big time. I've had it for things as simple as getting a toblerone. That one started with a dream in which I bought a toblerone and when I woke up I decided I was going to get one for real. When I could only find a small sized one in a store I went into another store just to get one that was a little bit bigger. I don't think too many people 'shop around' for chocolate bars. I also had to walk because I don't drive and I went to the store without buying anything else.

It sucks when I get fixated on something that I simply can't do. When I was fixated on interacting with spirits it was the most frustrating thing in my life. I knew I wasn't psychic and therefore I couldn't act on my fixation even if intelligent metaphysical entities existed and I didn't even know that for sure. I overdosed over the whole thing. A year-long, frustrating obsession ended in a suicide attempt. Somehow when I woke up the fixation was gone. I didn't care anymore but I got a new fixation. I guess the lengthy break in consciousness was like a reset button.

There are whimsical fixations and frustrating ones. It's funny how I never get fixated on things like finding a job.

all the time. But I think that's where the term "going off half cocked" comes from. Which is just due to being anxious / overexcited.

There are times when I'll just be so focused on something I'll forget things. Like I've come close to walking out my door with out being fully dressed, because I was so focused on something. Not excited, just absorbed on getting something done.

"Brian?" "Briiiian? "BRIAN!!"

"Huh?"

"Brain, did you know your shirt is inside out, your belt is unbuckled and you're wearing two different kinds of shoes?"

And when I'm looking for something in particular, I will pursue finding it at almost all costs. It's all I'm able to think about. I'll spend ridiculous amounts of time, energy and money to get project/brainstorm accomplished.

Mad dashes for the bathroom? Been there.

I think we all have, really. Forgetting your shoes is quite normal on the Spectrum!

Now that I think about it I have forgotten my shoes off and on at least twice a week! I have ruined a few nice socks. I have forgotten my sneakers less since I changed the laces to have rainbow laces. I am attached to them. =)

Oh and here is the shot that made me start the thread! I am really proud of it!

I've had obsessive determination to do some things, but I can't recall forgetting shoes or anything like that.

This thread reminds me, I took a picture of some kind of duck with my phone yesterday. Looks quite good, IMO.

Wow, that's a beautiful shot! No wonder you're proud. The reflections off the water and the little trail of waves the duck is leaving behind it--very nice. Even the glimpse of the duck's feet paddling under the water...

Thats an awesome duck pic, i would have gotten socks wet anyday to capture it! =)
A lot of the time i run out barefoot to water. It's better than getting sneakers or shoes wet as those take longest to dry
