Yes, that is kind of ironic. Perhaps it's some indication of how little meaning that day has for autistic people? The official page is on the Autism Speaks website - that might have something to do with it. :)

Also, having read the "about" page and the brochure and the UN resolution about it, I still don't understand what anyone is supposed to do on this day. I mean, OK, it's "World Autism Awareness Day" - in what way do they propose it should be different to any other day? Maybe that's another reason why nobody knows about it.

I think it's funny that autism awareness day comes after april fools day.. It's like "OP! YOU FELL FOR ALL MY JOKES! I AM NOW AWARE THAT YOU ARE AUTISTIC HAHAHAAH".

On an individual level, I don't need "a day" for autism awareness.

I'm aware of it every day of my life.
