Funny how this is, but male voices are often really annoying. The same is sometimes but much less likely to be true with female voices.

When I call and get an automated menu with a male voice, especially one that won't shut up and let me go to the menu option I want right away, I feel like throwing the phone and screaming. lol

I find certain accents or speech mannerisms annoying, rather than based on gender.

I hate people that 'roll' their r's for example. It feels like someone is blowing one of those stupid paper whistles into my ear.

I dislike many female voices. I would much rather listen to deep male voices. This is overly especially true if I have to watch dubbed anime or horrible American cartoons. I don't know where they find those female voice actors but I cannot stand them!

Oh yes. Especially when all the girls I know are dumb blondes (not necessarily all blondes but dumb anyway)
There's this girl in my physics class...
"Ohhh so do you multiplyyy? I don't get iiiiiit!!"
"I don't knowwwww! Can't you just do it for meeee???"
"So which hand do you use for the left hand ruleee???" (Oh. My. Lord. You are kidding me.)
"Heyyyy! Why did Mr Dallaway give you a choccy biccyyyy?? How come I don't get oneeee?" (I was given a chocolate biscuit from the teacher because I did calculations for him and the class to save everyone time. She scowled at me.)

Same D: I cannot stand the female voices in dubbed anime, they just sound so stupid it makes me cringe. I prefer listening to male voices any day

I think there are more female voices that are grating to me. But there are the higher toned male voices that make me intolerant too. So I think it has to do with frequencies and pitch. Just so happens most are females. Especially females with pitches like children yet their voices are mature in a way a child's is not.. if that makes sense...

The same for me.
As long as the voice isn't shrill or grating, I have no problems with anyone's voice. There are accents and dialects I can't stand.

I dont mind most voices it's just the odd one that winds me up and I hate it when someone comes up to me speaking in slang.

Female voices do tend to bother me more because they're more often shrill and high pitched. For me low pitched voices and sounds are more pleasant. Women tend to have higher pitched voices because we have shorter vocal cords so they vibrate faster-faster vibration equals a higher pitched voice.

Same!
But I think it's more pitch based than gender based.
Some women with a deeper voice tend to be an ok to me.

My mum found out that if she spoke with a deeper voice, she would be less likely to anger me.

Yes yes yes yes yes!!
Totally agree you.
(The ones I see weren't blonds though)

I guess she should give up physics... she will suffer anyway.

Am I the only guy who specifically finds male voices annoying?

I think its a particular tonality that bothers me, but there are some people that, as much as I like them, listening to them talk just makes me cringe - my friend's mother and sister in particular. :(

Maybe because you hear it too often?
(becomes boring/ annoying-- ie: too much of the same thing)

Female voices tend to be higher pitched which can pave the way to being annoying.

The pop singers I find annoying tend to be female.

But the worst of all current pop annoyers is Chad Kroeger- a male whose voice is like an ice pick to the ear.

But the best singers are often female as well.

In devices that use voices to order you around- like GPS's- I probably would prefer a female voice.

It all depends on context.

Yes, male here who would rather eat glass, than listen to his voice or any sort of overblown vocal machismo. I wonder if this could be related at all to the trend some people refer to of some Aspies not feeling their own gender identity as strongly?
