Perhaps it's partly due to Asperger's and partly due to not having a job and staying inside most of the time but I can go awhile without shower/brushing etc. I know it's bad but I get this feeling of "what's the point in wasting water/clothes/toothpaste if I'm not even going out?

I've never this issue. I like to be clean, and I have a sensitive sense of smell so to know I had B.O. would really bother me. I'm also very aware of germs.

I have trouble because of routines. I am great on the days when I have to go to work because I have cues that tell me, "It's time to shower now," and everybody else knows what's going on so they don't get in my way.

But on the weekends and during vacations, routine goes out the window and I don't have the cues so I never know when to do it. It seems like every time I think about taking a shower, my husband has to use the bathroom or my son decides to take a bath or we're doing laundry or we've just done the dishes so there's no hot water.

Also, my routine was to brush my teeth after the shower but before I got dressed because I didn't want to get toothpaste on my clothes by accident since it's so hard to rinse out. We had to move the toothpaste to the kitchen to keep it away from our son who likes to fingerpaint with it. I didn't like to go into the kitchen undressed so I had to either figure out a new routine for myself or go without brushing. By the time I finally got used to the new routine, I had an abcess, but I've managed not to get toothpaste on my clothes. 8)

I can relate to the OP about wasting water and clothes, but oral hygiene is not something that I can neglect because it can lead to tooth decay and dental cost.

I usually want to be feeling clean when I relax at home, but when I go out I don't see the point in being clean because going out = sweating and getting dirty any way. I don't really care if I stink when I go out (to work or whatever).

I haven't vacuumed my house for a few years now. I know it's unhygienic, but I don't see any point in doing it for a certain reason.

I have problems with conventional hygiene. I have trouble bathing more than every 4 to 5 days, and because teeth brushing is so uncomfortable I have trouble doing it every day even though I know that is important for my health, and my flossing is even worse.

I have trouble remembering to, brush my teeth. Always have, since I was a tiny kid. It just doesn't occur to me, even when the brush and past are sitting in front of me.
I have to shower (my rules) every school night, and if I am leaving the house on weekends. On school nights, it has to be the last thing I do, no homework after the shower. Weekend showers have to be before I leave the house.
I have trouble clipping my finger and toe nails. It just doesn't occur to me to do it. Finger nails are clipped more often, once they start catching on clothing.
Haircuts must be monthly. I hate going to get them, but my hair drives me nuts if it gets to long. I hate being out of control, I used to cut my own hair, but I can't cut it in the style it's currently in.

Nope. I'm a bit OCD about hygiene, so I don't have that problem.

However, during some of my worst depressive states I've gone a week w/o showering - but I'd never ever go out like that, and don't even really like it while just sitting home. But I can relate a bit. Then I'd shower and feel so refreshed and good and remind myself that I hate being dirty, so why would I go this long w/o showering ever again?? I think in part it was due to having a really poor sense of time at that time as well. The sun just rose and fell several times and it was a bit of a blur. It's been a few years since then.

Not really, just sometimes I have one day without shower (at that time I usually think "one day isn´t such a big deal") and often brush teeth one time a day (instead of two times a day, which is conventional average), because I forget or don´t feel like doing it in the night before sleep. But I try to brush them two times a day -in the morning and in the night.

Otherwise my hygiene is normal. But in my teens I didn´t care of my apperance due to my schizoaffective disorder. It was very tough time but now it´s gone.

No way. How do people with sensory issues from NLD or Asperger's stand to have dirty hair or skin???

I have to shower at least daily. I tend to be forgetful when it comes to brushing my teeth and putting on deodorant, though. It's not that I prefer not to do it or anything, I just plain forget.

Well I finally showered today after about a week I think, maybe longer...I actually am not entirely sure. I did go out during that period, but showering felt like too much effort still. I don't know my minds been a little pre-occupied I guess so its interfering with things like keeping up with hygiene or anything else I am supposed to remember and keep up with. I have actually been doing my best to mask that using my brain to do things feels like trying to get stuff done on a really slow computer except my brain is the slow computer.

I pretty much never shower when it's up to me, whether or not I need to go out, and I never brush my teeth.

I hate the feeling of water on my face, I do not like the feeling of wet hair but using a hair dryer is even worse. I also do not like the slightly damp feeling my skin has even after I dry off with a towel. After showering but before I get dressed I have to brush and braid my hair, dry out my ears with qtips and put a saline gel in my nose. To do everything is a figurative pain. I only mind the feel of my hair after about 2 weeks. Beyond that I do not "feel" dirty and it is much more comfortable to not bathe. Teeth brushing is still a sensory nightmare.

I have good hygiene most of the time.....and I hate being sweaty or not taking a shower because my skin gets really itchy (even of I just miss showering for one day) but sometimes I go through a phase where I'm more than usually obsessed with something (one of my novel series maybe) and I won't shower for a gross amount of time. I'm bad a t remembering to do the things that aren't daily grooming regimens though, like cutting my toenails or shaving my legs.

I also forget to brush my teeth, I usually shower a couple times a week at least....I am reminded to brush my teeth in the morning if I go out and smoke a cigarette before I have because of the taste.
