I am just curious how much money most Aspies make. Please answer with only your income, not your spouses too if you are married.

How would you like us to adjust for local Cost of Living (COL)? I usually suggest picking a US city's COL and telling which calculator to use.

I'm still in school and make $18,000/year working (mostly during summers) and mooch about another $20,000 off the government using various loopholes in the American legal system.

There is no option for me. Unfortunately, I feel quite incompetent because I have friends who collect $100,000 + each year from the government, including an ex con I tried to date once. It is just beyond my skill set or courage.

If I had to live my life over again, I would have created a fake disability rating for the Armed Forces and then collected SSDI for this and Asperger's while retiring in Hainan Island of the People's Republic of China and maybe opening an education consulting firm for study abroad while living the good life.

Unfortunately, I have decided to dedicate my life to being a productive, law-abiding citizen. This has both its good and bad sides.

Is the 20,000 mostly school money? How are you getting it? Would I qualify?

I think I am between $20,000-$30,000. I would have to add up my paychecks to see.

A lot of it comes through the GI Bill. My school also made a mistake in stacking my scholarships on top of my GI Bill, so I get refunds into my bank account. And food stamps, TANF, medicaid. I claim one of my younger sisters as a dependent, and I actually do help support her because my parents are paupers.

I'm actually not as sociopathic as I sound. I actually went to my university worried about this "problem" with money flowing into my bank account, and they said there was nothing they could do to fix it. This is why I went to school here and did not transfer even though I absolutely hate it. So it's a mixed bag.

I work full-time and make about 14,000 which is just below the poverty line. My wife is on SSD and we get food stamps.

When I was a nurse I averaged around $30K - $50K/year. I haven't worked in a year so I collect Unemployment Insurance. It runs out in two months though so, in two months, it's back to the bump and the grind for me.

Ah and from what I know GI Bill and all other Vet Benefits do NOT count as income for government assistance, so you can still qualify for those other benefits even with the GI money.

I'm wondering if income can be considered relevant to Asperger's. It seems to range anywhere between disability income to Bill Gates.

This was more for my curiosity what the typical person on WP makes.

Disability

That's about 14 a year here (it's also considered an income IIRC).

It's a fair question, even if I'd prefer a COL baseline to put up a number.

currently in school, though also applying for disability as school has gone on for 8 years now and the last two jobs I've had prompted emotional breakdowns in less than a day.

I actually think I've made less than $10,000 in my entire life, and I've tried full-time work in some of the years I wasn't in school.
