The Google homage is currently displaying an animated gyroscopic sphere. I must have stared at it for at least ten minutes before snapping out of my trance. Had to share. Got armillary?

Beautiful. That would make an amazing screensaver.

PS Indeed, I had an idea for a nice app from I'm gonna do this evening. Thanks! :D

I'm probably talking rubbish here, but the stuff that they have is reminiscent of Leonardo da Vinci to me.

Well, indeed is about Euler, a great genius from the enlightment period. The famous problem about the bridges of Königsberg can be easily recognized :D

The rotating figure is about spherical trigonometry. Da Vinci never worked on it (as long as I know), he was an average mathematician and a poor astronomer (his genius lied more around art, engineering and natural sciences).

It's in recognition of Leonhard Euler's 306th birthday. If you don't know who Leonhard Euler is, you're not the only one. Looks to me like he might be ripping off Leo some though

If Sheldon Cooper read this post, he'd be chewing me out big time.

I knew Euler was a mathematician, but that's all. The sphere didn't gyrate for me or else I'd still be staring at it. I got made fun of in 5th grade for staring at an oscillating fan.
