My ADHD med is quite good, in fact when I take it I'm no more hyperactive, even if I always remain a little distracted.
But when I take too much of it, it gives me a weird side effect, I look like someone with schizoid PD.
I'm pretty sure I do not have schizoid PD (I think it's impossible for someone to have both ADHD-C and schizoid PD IMO), even though I share some traits, but everyone can have traits from personality disorders.
I am quite sure it is because of this ADHD med, when I take too much of it.
Has someone ever had a similar experience with an ADHD med?

I used to take Risperidone and Ritalin for my tics and ADHD. The Risperidone helped, but it always made me hungry and the Ritalin accelerated my tics and made me more hyper and stim than I already was. I hate medication.

When my son was on Adderall, if his dose was too high his affect would flatten, he would have odd postures, and he looked a little zombified. But when he was on the right dose, it was GOLDEN.

Interesting, Ritalin had the exact opposite effect on me. It made me very agitated.

I have an adopted child (6 yrs old) who seems to have symptoms similar to those that I am finding online under Aspergers.
She was on Clonodine, then Resperidone was added, then Clonodine removed, then we took her off of the Resperidone as it seemed to add to huge mood swings and tantrums.
Currently she is on no medication. She has behavioral issues, talks continually, rocks in whatever chair she is sitting in...especially in the car.
She has compulsive things that she does, like always wants bags. She puts toys, dolls, papers, almost anything in bags and carries them around.
She doesn't seem to get the concept of other peoples things are not hers to take and steals from other kids and adults. When asked why, she either says "I don't know" or "because I wanted it".
I am cautious about getting her diagnosed. I don't know how much a diagnosis might hold her back in the future (medical records kept forever).
I want to figure out how to help her (and regain and maintain our families sanity).
I don't like the idea of just putting her on meds that make her like a zombie (which Clonodine did), and I don't know how to find a professional that can help that won't do a 10 minute exam and just pigeon hole her and put her on meds.
Of course, if some type of medicine, special diet, exercise, therapy, etc. would help...I want to do it.
Were you on the Risperidone for the ADHD?
Sorry to hijack your thread. I'll start my own, but am happy to finally find some information relating to what we are experiencing.

I have taken ritalin, and in my opinion it is the worst stimulant. It works for the first hour or so, then it just goes on a downward spiral. I get more anixtey, impatient worry more. I was also prescribed dexedrine in the past and it is a lot better than ritalin. It simply just works for 3 hours, and when i was taking it i didnt mind taking 3 a day for it. I

One of the very best treatments for ADHD is, a full night's sleep. Lack of sleep compounds and exacerbates ADHD exponentially. Whatever else you may be doing for it or taking for it, make sure you're getting enough sleep. That's one thing us folks with ADHD can't afford to skimp on.
