I'm hoping that someone mat be able to offer some advice regarding a recent assessment I had in relation to personal independence payments. I'm a little confused by the results and want to know if anyone has been through this before and know the best steps to take next.

I was asked to visit the Atos assessment a few weeks ago and brought my partner and new born son. I wanted my partner there with me to be able to clarify and expand on my input, as speaking with new people in depth isn't my strong point and I usually only answer directly rather than adding some detail people deem to be required.

Firstly, we arrived late which is common place for me with new attendances and I was told that my partner wasn't allowed to be in the room due to us bringing our child. I accepted this as a ruling but it turned out to be a mark against me in the assessment.

Secondly, I answered mostly yes or no to the questions and the assessment itself took 5-8 minutes. During this time I stated that I had problems with communication and also following signs and directions. Getting on public transport always tends to make me arrive late as I can't seem to pay attention to changes in schedules.

After the assessment I received a letter suggesting that as I attended the assessment without help that I didn't have communication issues. They also said that there was no evidence behind this and also no evidence behind my inability to navigate to destinations. Upon reading this I wasn't quite sure how I could respond or provide evidence to reinforce these issues. Would anyone be able to help?
