When others realize autism doesn't go away, do they bail?

This extends to dealing with family as well; when it finally sinks in that some things will never change by your efforts do they give up on the relationship? I'm talking about when the other people are aware of the condition, not those who leave due to 'weirdness' or their personal preferences

few of my friends know and those that do also have AS. My parents havent really realized what my condition is really that pervasive and usually just dismiss symptoms as quirks.I think they expect me to just grow out of it by the time I finish college. :roll:
But no, no one who has found out has ever rejected me for it. :D

Actually, I've found people who know I'm on the spectrum are more accepting. They know I'm not deliberately trying to cause trouble, I have a disability that makes some stuff more difficult.
