I'm wondering how your memory works. When you recall an event you were a part of, do you see yourself as if watching yourself in a video recording (i.e.: 3rd person perspective) or as if reviewing or reliving the event as you did the first time (i.e.: 1st person perspective).

So that's the poll. I ask because my memory is exclusively 1st person, and trying to create a 3rd person memory feels very artificial, unless I'm recalling watching a video of me doing something. I've read that many on the spectrum have a first person perspective, so I'm curious.

If your memory is split between the two perspectives, or works in some other way, feel free to comment.

Note to Admins: I set the poll to run for ten days. Let me know if that is against WP policy.

I see my past like there's a camera just behind me. it's mostly black and white without sound, but I know what was said, like there was a script. I know what colors things were as if I had the set design list. there is not emotional connection, but i recall what i felt at the time.

My memories are in first person (since that's how I experienced them, obviously) but most of my dreams are in third person.

It's 3rd person memories for me and first person dreams. Odd.

Third person for memories and dreams. (although in some of my dreams, I'm not actually in them as myself, but as a character or I'm not "in" them at all but am seeing them as if I was making a movie)

I said first person but I'm not sure either option fits me fully.

Yep, me too! I mean, if I consciously think about it, I can think about the past in first person. But, naturally? Third person.
