I just talked to my online university librarian. Right now in the online university library I can access the entire DSM 4-TR electronically, including the option to download. I asked her when it would update to the DSM 5 and she said in about 2-3 weeks from now, or whenever they receive the new electronic version. So if you have access to an online school library, you may be able to get the new DSM for free. Just thought I would let others know.

And as a UK library user (well at least this is the case in my area) you can log in with your library card - it's all free.
